RB Turbo'd 335i Dyno (pic, log, vid)
At last, after some controversy, and a few trips to Simi Valley, we got it on the dyno... We did 3 runs, at 60, 75 and 80 meth additive.
Mods: RB Turbos JB4 G5 FBO (cp-e)+Meth Mid cats IN Now it's time to see how it performs at the airstrip and the track~ Does the 500rwhp club have a badge or something that I should be awaiting? Big thanks to Terry for his tuning and superb customer service! Last edited by Sick335; 10-24-2012 at 12:46 PM.. |

Very impressive. I see COBB in your sig, I assume you are using the base flash?
why not run some E85 in and extract more power. Might as well since you are going to the airstrip.

I see your timing is already hitting the stock timing targets. I would ask Terry to increase the timing in the stock flash (or do it your self with ATR) and run E85!
You have gains in the midrange if you increase timing

COBB is loaded with BMS Flash. We ran ms109 for various reasons. There's only one e85 station 15 miles away from my house, so not very convenient. Once the fuel pump situation is figured out we'll see about getting more power out of it, but even at these power levels there are big traction problems on street tires. And I'm not sure how the tranny will react to more power, so we'll keep it at 500 for now.

Race gas should give you more timing if you want it... Your transmission will handle some more power after 4500 Have at the airstrip event... Looking forward for the vids

It is my daily driver(i dont drive much, live 2 miles away from my office where i spend most of my time), and as of right now i'm getting about 17mpg average, but i got a heavy foot... If you give my car to somebody more conservative, i'm sure you can get over 20 out of it.

Very nice numbers... I'm sure it's a blast to drive... I think you'll find that for daily drive with pump, if you can keep a five gal can of e85 handy you'll be able to run the same numbers as you ran with race fuel if not better every day. With direct injection Ethanol has a really nice cooling effect on the cyl temps allowing you to get a few more points of timing. BrianMN was telling me on the dyno running high levels of Ethanol he was getting 20 to 30 RWHP for every point of timing over stock. With that said, you're leaving 60 to 90 whp on the table. BTW, a used trans will run you a little over $1500 plus labor. You won't have any issues as long as you don't break torque from second gear every weekend at the track.
With regard to purchasing Methanol, always check with local chemical companies. We have Tarr LLC here in Portland and you can buy 5 gal cans for less than $30. They were very happy to setup an account for me and I know a few other Portlanders also use them from time to time. |
