Suprised to see that kind of result, as much as I was to see C&D say the new S6 was better than the current M5.
Engine placement on the audi needs to be pushed back though. It needs to sit behind the front wheels like the Panamera, the M5, etc. Too much weight over the axel. |

For the lazy, the dyno results were:
Audi S8 - 479/422 Alpina B7 - 414/437 Interesting, especially since BMW is usually known for underrating the engines. Also explains the 0-60 difference. Audi with more power, torque and AWD will definitely kick the B7's ass in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile. BMW does do a good job dynamically, since the engine sits further back, the steering is better, pedals feel nicer, etc. I think this is a case of Alpina, not BMW, dropping the ball. BMW did everything great. Alpina is normally very customizable and every Alpina ordered is made JUST FOR YOU (the customer). The S8 (and M cars) are not the same in that respect. Weird how bad the throttle response is on the Alpina, too, since throttle response is pretty decent even on the turbo BMWs. I just think back to a recent comparo between the RS3 and the new M135i. The 135i whipped the RS3's ass, and it's not even a true ///M car, just a 135i with a PPK and some cosmetics/exhaust. The reviewer absolutely fell in love the the BMW, despite the spec sheet showing that the Audi should blow away the 1 series. I also think back to the 1M testing against various Audis, Porsches, etc, and even the more recent new 3 series testing. The Alpina B7 just seems like a mushy, half-assed performance version compared to what BMW themselves can do. Idk, that's just my opinion, that in this case Alpina mucked up the car and not BMW.

0-60 in 3.5 with 11s in the 1/4? Either Audi made an S8 in M5 territory or there is some serious trolling going on here.

I too was surprised. It is usually BMW that underrated there figures but this was just absurd and dissapointing.
I pretty much shat a brick when they said they got from 0-60 in 3.5 in the Audi. That is insane. I started the video with the intention of the B7 tearing the S8 a new one, but i was wrong. The B7 does look WAY better and classier though. |

The more telling thing to me in this test isnt so much the ETs but the fact that the S8 is trapping 118+ mph, which is M5 and Panamera Turbo/S territory. That is a fast sedan! |

Nice keen observation skills, dishing out criticism without a filter. It's a S8 not A8.

Since I got my S4 I have been seeing (noticing?) Audis a lot more, that nd I have been spending more time in Tahoe where awd is nice to have.
The big Audis are definitely growing on me, the A8 and Q7 in particular. I personally would buy a Panamera Gts or Turbo before an S8 |
