Do I have a leg to stand on?
Last may I bought my Dad an AMG driving experience at Brooklands with overnight stay evening meal and baed and breakfast, it cost me somewhere in the region of £400. Long story short my Mum took ill shortly after I booked this and my Dad ended up looking after her and completely forgot about the whole thing. Anyway Mum is now better and it turns out the voucher has expired so my Dad emailed the Brooklands hotel and told them the story hoping they might be able to move a little under the circumstances, but the said absolutely not. I know the voucher has expired but can they really just take your money and give you nothing in return?

You bought tickets & missed the show. They held up their part of the contract by making the room etc available & unfortunately unless they're prepared to make a goodwill gesture I'm afraid you're stuffed

In your particular case, I'm surprised they didn't extend the ticket validity as a goodwill gesture. |

Had you booked an actual date that was then missed without notice to them or was it just a general voucher with no actual arrangements made yet?

Sounds like it just expired so it's not like he's used any of it so it's a bit unreasonable to cancel it completely but some businesses are like that. Try to get the name of the sales or marketing director & write to him/her

best bet is to email/speak to them over the phone and explain the situation and see if they are willing to make a goodwill gesture - they dont have to but you can try asking

Email them this thread
I think that's bang out of order, offer to send them evidence of your mothers illness (doctors/hospital admittance documents) and try to speak to a manager. Good luck mate and pleased your old dear is on the mend. |

It does seem extraordinarily harsh, yes, the Hotel were within their rights to walk away from the OP,however given the mitigating factors,I would have expected some form of goodwill.
Tough call,Alpandy, worth a follow up call if nothing else. Good luck Twitter - @brooklandshotel

Something similar in the other halfs dad booked himself a holiday paid for in full but with out any insurances. Sadly he passed away before the date. Did they give anything back. Fuck no.

Nothing had been booked, I had just bought the voucher for my Dad with my Mum as a guest. He never booked a date/room so they lost nothing which is why I find it so unfair. I mean if it'd cost them because they couldn't book the room out to someone else fair enough, but the fact is they had the money and we got nothing. I understand the voucher is outside the redemption date but maybe a discounted rebooking offer would've been fairer.

your old man is abit stuffed. only course of action I could think is to offer to pay 30% towards another voucher and they goodwill the rest. They might go for that as they get a few more quid and a happy customer. T & C's are binding, thats how the world roles, look at airlines overselling seats!!
