What I love about you guys at stance work is your ability to work with natural lighting. Its take some amazing work to be at your location with the right light out and see what you want hahaha
any editing tips?

As far as editing tips. I really don't do much, in camera raw I mess around with the white balance, contrast, clarity a bit, some basic curves work, and split tones, so I can get a basic idea in my head as to where I want to take the picture. Then in PS itself, I do curves, color balance, hue/saturation (not much here because the effects can be dramatic), contrast, brightness, and if there are some minor things that need attention too, IE I want more tones in the shadows or whatever, I'll go and make a second curves or color balance layer to get the desired effect. I hope that makes sense? Please do feel free to PM me if you want to know more. |

Very nice, you've got a knack for creating a certain mood with your images, one that fits each vehicle precisely. I like this style.
Of course having an E46 M3 for a subject doesn't hurt either. I love that car, specifically the pre-LCI E46, although I am not sure if the M3 ever receive the LCI treatment in that generation. I had one (a 2001 325Ci), so I am biased. Great set! |

Yeah the E46M never got the facelift. I too prefer it to that of the face lift.
Thanks for the compliment man. Here's another from yesterday. |

You are supremely talented. For those who are participating in Contest #64, definitely look at these. The cars are obviously stunning. That aside, you could put a Volvo 240SE in these and they would be beautiful simply because of the colors and the lighting.
Kielan...what are you using to shoot these?? |

I'm using a Canon T2i and 35L. I need to upgrade to full frame badly.

It's not too bad, but all I have is my T2i, the 35L, and 70-200 F4L Non-IS (which outside of motorsport events, never gets used).

haha my bad i was only talking about the camera. I love my 35L also haha but for you to rock it like this with a rebel is a testimony to your creativity and understanding of light haha its really dope. the one thing I wouuuld suggest is coming up with a new watermark. i've seen a good # of people use the aperture rings as a watermark (crossed my mind also). I think your work deserves a more classier mark for them. Something original and really sticks to your own personal branding. I think Jzhang gets so much love is because 1013mm is different. its a watermark to be proud of to have on a photo. If you can create something original and makes you and your branding pop more, im sure you'll get more love as you get more active hahaha just my 2 cents right now

I suck at graphic design and had a buddy of mine do it for me, I honestly can't think of anything that I like, I wanted to do my initials, but finding a font that I want is so hard. I have a lot of ideas of what I want, but since I don't have any talent like that I can't make em happen haha.

This goes back to the whole thing about gear being more capable than its user. My 5D miII is waaaaaaay more capable than I. That being said, there is a local guy that, years ago, just shot w/ a Canon XT but he had some awesome shots. Look up JDMoto and find some of his earlier stuff.
Awesome stuff, Kielan! Stop making me feel so bad about my work!
