Angry Got a ticket a week ago

I finally did some mods to my car (which ill post tonight.. after a wash).. So i was exiting a parking lot on Devonshire and decided to punch it. I recently changed my exhaust system.. custom straight pipes.. i wanted to hear how it would sound while the air was cold. Right when i hit the gas i see a cop, i Slow down but i noticed that the cop had already made a U-Turn. He Pulls me over in a spot where it was dangerous for two cars to be. So i pull into a parking lot, where it would be safer for the both of us. Next thing i know the two cops are yelling and holding out their guns. lol. so I just stop where i was, turn off my car and wait for the cop to slam me with a speeding ticket. He searched my car.. and at the end i get a ticket for no front plates. Tints. and loud exhaust system. (all fix it's).. I dont know what im going to do about the exhaust system yet. but the other two will be easy to take care of. Thank god i didnt get a speeding ticket though.. fix-it's arent bad..

Good things! Looking forward to the soundclip.

Question though, I dont know how it is out there, but what do they qualify an exhaust worthy of receiving a fix-it ticket? Did they bring out a decible reader? They do that out here in PA and if its above 85db at idle they issue you a noise pollution ticket(for motorcycles at least).

I thought they would need a reader to.. but it was loud cause i punched it.. but im gna go and get it read to see how loud it is.. Obviously when you punch it. its going to be loud.. but no he didnt bust anything out. just used his ears.. It was the end of the month. and im guessing the cop probably needed to match his qouta.. so he pulls me over for stupid things

Why did you consent to the search? They can't do so without probable cause. Just because you blipped the throttle with a loud exhaust they think you are transporting drugs, illegal weapons or other contraband?

I also don't understand why their guns were drawn. Did you not slow down considerably and use your turn signal to notify your intention to pull over?

Yep. But, did you know that Virginia law says that you only have to have a cat conv, but not a muffler? The trick is that they can still write you for excessive noise. When I had a full-size blazer, I was running strait pipes from the cats and it sounded gr8!!

However, Maryland is a diff story...

how much does it cost to

remove the aftermarket exhaust

reinstall the stocker

get the car signed off by CHP

remove stock exhaust

reinstall aftermarket exhaust

even if you're doing the labor yourself that's a lot of work

just depends on how much your time's worth

sometimes, paying a couple hundred bucks is easier

About one year ago, I was in your situtation. I was pulled over for my eisenmann exhaust. He said it was too loud, wrote me a fix it ticket. I just paid the ticket, and I haven't got another one since. The thing is the cop was a local town police in port washington, ny, here on long island. I am assuming he had nothing better to do so he pulled me over.

Question to the OP - I am curious, are you a minority? Because I am, I don't want to place the race card, but at the time I was 18, my dad's theory was a young minority driving a nice car. I say this because, there was another car next to me, a riced out civic with one of those pepsi can exhaust that is about 10 times louder than my eisenmann and the cop choose to pull me over, not the both of us at the same time.

Guns drawn? That must of been some scary shit. If I knew no contraband was in my vehicle I would have consented to them searching my car, I would have nothing to hide.

race card

if you get a ticket for something illegal why does it matter what race you are?

About the minority.. I am Armenian.. but i was born here.. and i dont know if I really look like an aremenian.. He was jealous that i was driving a 335

He said the reason we had our guns was because.. Gang members pull into lots to either shoot the cops.. or some how bone out of there.. lol im 18 years old.. and I doo now look like a gang member.. lol i started laughing.. i swear. wHATS the point of these tickets... CAli is going down hill man loll.. tint tickets are SOOOO worthless.. plates in the front... Putting a plate in the front makes the car look so ugly IMO. i hear big trucks with loud ass exhaust... nothing happens to them... and ill see what ill do with the exhausts..

Never let a cop search your car. They say it will make it easier or if you don't have anything to hide.

Point is, I wouldn't let a cop in my home unless he had a warrant. Same for my car.

This is nuisance ticket, he knew he could not write you up for anything else so he gave you a bunch of fix-it tickets since that would cost you more then the ticket itself.

Here is what you do, research the laws in your state for Tint and noise and fight it. Go to court and ask the cop how did he determine the tint was too dark or the exhaust was too loud. Ask him when the last time his eyes and ears have been calibrated to make these measurements. I would rip the guy apart in front of the judge and I guaranty the ticket will get dismissed.

Lastly, never let them search your car even if they make claims they saw or smelled something. They have to arrest you first and get a warrant before they can do a search... unless you let them...
