GoPro Hero2 for cheap!
Hey, just thought I'd give a heads up in case people haven't checked out their weekly flyers that Best Buy has the GoPro Hero2 as one of their Black Friday sale items for $179.99! It's the outdoor edition but you can easily get the suction cup mount for about $30. Yes there is the new Hero3 out but it isn't $180.

Nice I've been dropping hints to the wife about the Hero 3 the past month or so haha. Might still pick up a Hero 2 as well given the price. I suspect a lot more videos being posted up next season.

Looks like this week it's FutureShop's turn. Best of luck to those on the hunt.

Though it's misleading, because I checked last week since Futureshop matches Bestbuy sales, and they were already sold out back then. Boooo. |

$500 is a bit steep, but I didn't get it for that price( about $100 bucks or so cheaper). 60 fps in 1080 is awesome, especially for car vids. On my Hero 1, I kept it at 720 60fps to avoid the "jello" effect when using a higher resolution with a lower fps for high action scene. The night videos on hero 3 is a massive improvement over hero 1 and 2 cameras. I am looking to understand the black edition hero 3 and it's benefits when using protune (true potential for the camera). edit: I am talking strictly black edition hero 3. The other versions are shown to be just gopro 2 cameras with wifi built in. |

Don't mean to revive this pretty much dead thread but just found this video on YouTube that might be helpful for people still contemplating which GoPro to get. Compares a Hero3 Black, Silver, and Hero2.

Like I said if you use the remote, for whatever reason, great for you, but for the extra 30 fps, it doesnt seem like its worth it, when for the same price you could get 2 and a half gopro 2's for the price. EDT: Also with the black edition you NEED a good quality SD card... like the one HERE for $179 on sale, anything less and youll start loosing frames (which means youll prolly be filming in 30 fps instead of the 60fps in HD....which in turn makes it a go pro 2 :P ) I thought you could get away with the less expensive 45mb/s but people are reporting it still misses frames Brad |

Also needing a $180 card is false. Don't need to spread around these rumours when people with a $50 card is having no problems. My Adata card is holding up perfectly fine in all modes. Last edited by DESI4life10; 12-19-2012 at 08:20 AM.. |

If your recording in HD @ 60fps and it writes at 25 m/sec how can a card that does 10/megs a sec keep up? It keeps up by skipping frames. Same with burst mode - gopro 3 does 12 megapixles @ 30 pics a second ... you do the math. I use a sandisk 45/mbs in my go pro 2 and it only does 11 megapixles @ 10 photos a sec. hope you dont think im arguing with you or trying to start a "internet flame war" I'm just trying to state what I have found and what people should maybe be considering. I think you may be confusing MB (megabyte) with Mb (megabit). I got some good information from this site regarding the memory stick issue. http://goprouser.freeforums.org/befo...?hilit=SanDisk Extreme Pro&start=10 I primarily use video and not photoburst. If the frames are too much for the speed of the memory stick, the camera will stop the recording. For testing, I put a class 4 stick in the camera and got no more than 10 seconds of recording (1080/60p) before it stopped recording (againI knew this was not the right card). I'll try photoburst and see how it goes. edit: I just did a photoburst of 30fps 12mp wide and had no problems capturing all 30 frames. Last edited by DESI4life10; 12-19-2012 at 06:16 PM.. |
