K&N on my 335 :)

i just put it on and drove around. There is a noticable difference in the throttle response. Ive even switched it back to confirm and i feel the difference from the initial 0-60. I dont know what gains it produces and i know its just a filter, but its worth 60 bux.

Nice. Do you have the PROcede or are u stock? Any diff. in sound? I've got the ITG air filter coming in a couple days.

I had a K&N air filter on my '04 G35 and I liked it...a little better sound (especially at WOT), and maybe a few extra HP.

im just stock. For the sound, 1-10 ten being the loudest i would say a 3. It gives a little bit more of a woosh noise when u let off the gas which is pretty cool. I havent really wot'ed it yet but when i do ill post with my conclusions.

Well, having burnt 2 MAF sensors on my old G35, I won't touch the filter with a 10 foot pole, but it looks like you are enjoying the filter, so I wish you good luck (can you sense my bitterness)

I'm a fan of K&N filter and I've used on numerous cars of mine. Just make sure you pat it down with a rag to get the excess oil off the filter so it doesnt screw up you MAF sensor.

how bulky are the stock filters? Are they paper? The filter is the best performance mod for 60 bucks..

Im sorry for you man. I actually took a good look at the filter when it came in, i think k&n actually took time in oiling their filters correctly. It was like they knew about the mass air flow sensor problem. Anyways, ive had them on every car ive owned and makes me a firm believer in k&n. ive tried others and i like k&n the best.

I'm glad others haven't had the experience I have with K&N flters. I never reused the filter just out of the box, with a quick wipe down. I think my old G35 may have been cursed, because the MAF filter was the least of my problems with that car. Have fun with the filter!

Unless someone posts a good HP gain.........i wont put one in. I'm in the same boat as Shadyg. I had to replace 2 different MAF on my S60R due to the K&N allowing oil to get sucked through. Might be worse on F/I engines due to the vacuum effect.

I wish you the best with it!

I believe K&N's are cotton based filters.

I've never had a problem with a K&N filter on my vehicles. I have noticed MPG increases on my other vehicles.

I had a nasty problem on my chipped Audi with a K&N/AFE filter...had to replace the MAF. I had a K&N cone filter on my race car..so I do suggest them on some applications...but I will be holding off on putting one in my 335.

I have had a K&N in my wife's G35 for 1.5 years, no issues.
I have also put k&N filters in several of my other cars.
I did have a MAF go out in my GTI 1.8T and my Maxima.
But those MAF were really close to the filter so I could see the issue, and at least with the GTI 1.8T the MAF failure was a bit of a problem with many of the 1.8T cars, with or without the K&N filter.

I look at it this way, K&N sells MILLIONS of those filters each year, and by and large very, very few people have ANY issues whatsoever with them.
Could they damage a MAF do to some oil getting on them? Sure it's probably possible, but likely only on cars whose MAF is really close to the filter, and even then I bet it's less than 5% chance. And probably less than .5% on all cars combined, otherwise people wouldn't continue buying the K&N filter.

I have had several FI vehicles and I run oiled filters. The Key is to make sure they are not over oiled. Wipe them down especially the inside before use. The MAF can be cleaned as well.

FYI, the 335i is not a MAF based car.
