Factory Fitted Sound?
Does anyone have any comments on the standard sound? I am not going to add logic 7 or anything. The sound on an E46 wasn't good at all, and so I took my car up the road to get Hertz sub and amp installed. Am I going to need this on my new car?
Anyone got pictures of retrofitted sound systems? I was thinking maybe it could fit into that storage space in the boot(aka trunk) where the spare would've gone? |

I actually have the same question. The only "sound" option I took is the radio professional but I am planning to built in my own choice of speakers in the original spaces. Anyone experience with this if cabels etc. are sufficient there and if all if 'communicating' with each other as BMW uses high CAN bus wirings so I'm not sure if all will fit that easily. I have been told that it won't be possible to built in a CD changer yourself... Who has experience or information?

Hi abdulh,
Did you get the 10 speaker hi-fi loudspeaker package on your new 320i? Or the standard 6 speakers with CD professional (w/o i-drive)? Can you tell me where are all those six standard speakers exactly? Have you got any speakers behind the rear seats?? The 320i is not in HK yet and I am wondering if I need to add the 10 speaker option if I place an order on 320i. Thanks for your advice in advance. |

only way I would add a system to this car is if you're going to change every stereo component out. I would not add a system that consisted of just an amp and subs to the stock radio. Or simply change out the speakers and use the stock radio. The logic 7 is actually pretty good, not on par with some of the high end systems out there, but definitely better than just about any other stock system out there. Unless u were planning to add an aftermarket head unit, amps, AND speakers, i'd just add the logic 7. If it's pleasing to my ears after switching over from Focal Polykevlars, it should be pleasant to just about any other set of ears (unless you are a true hardcore audiophile).

Well then, I'd better start saving some money for my sound! I know a guy up the road from me....I wonder if he can fit the amp and stuff into that space in the boot? It'll be interesting to see...i'll show you all when i get my car and get it done!

Std sound reply
The standard sound system is a lot better than the one on the E46
But... when you adjust the bass to three quarters and play music at high volume , there is distortion where with the HI FI loudspeaker the clarity would be perfect. The Hi Fi loudspeaker system is recommended (incredible bass and clarity at all volume levels). I did not find a huge difference between Hi fi loudspeaker and DSP (apart from being able to save your sound channel settings) |
