Extended Warranty in Canada
Hi,
I did but found very little on this specific to Canada. I think I will be keeping this car for a while. An extended warranty option was never mentioned when I bought my car, which I thought was odd. Does anyone have any information about BMW warranties or aftermarket? |

I think you can pretty much buy EW from your dealer.
I have Mercedes and I can buy EW anytime before the standard warranty expires, which is 4 years. I guess BMW might have the same policy. Check with your SA I am planning to buy EW on my bimmer too.

AFAIK, BMW dun have EW from factory like Honda/Toyota. They just offer after market warranty from 3rd party company. So you will have the risk of the company go out of market before your warranty expire. And most of them are quite expansive. I got my 3 yr EW on my E46 and it was $4k after tax. But the main issue is... they never willing to process your claim. They also tried to blame on the user. It always take me a lot of effort (get 3 writing report from independents mechanic, legal letters...etc) to fight for the claim and still the best I can got is some used parts and installed by some unknown garage that they refer to... So dun waste your money on EW.

EW @ BMW works as follow
When you were picking up your car, there should be a person that does the paper work for you other than your sales. That person should also sell you EW on the spot, which is the cheapest way to buy it. If you don't purchase it that day, you can buy it before the original warranty expires... but at a slight premium of probz three to four bills more for like say a 7 yr warranty (4 years of original warranty + 3 years of extend). |
