2nd Ammendment died in New York
http://news.yahoo.com/ny-seals-1st-s...074653716.html
"Ammunition magazines would be restricted to seven bullets, from the current 10, and current owners of higher-capacity magazines would have a year to sell them out of state. An owner caught at home with eight or more bullets in a magazine could face a misdemeanor charge. Stores that sell ammunition will have to register with the state, run background checks on buyers of bullets and keep an electronic database of bullet sales." Even a 1911 that holds a 8 round would be illegal LOL Who that f@wk makes a 7 round magazine except a 1911?

What problem does this aim to solve, exactly?

More laws that criminals, psychopaths, and those with mental illness will ignore. I'm tired of liberal feel good legislation.
People with guns that can carry 8+ bullets would have to sell them out of state in 12 months? Isn't that type of action (asking someone to sell something they bought legally) prohibited by clause 3 of Article I, Section 9 of the Constitution. Can we finally vote these lunatics out of office so they can stop sh*tting all over the Constitution?

Being from New York I have read and seen so much on this issue today it is kind of ridiculous.
I think that the 7 round mags are the least of our problems. New York is now going to track these weapons such that anyone that owns an AR or whatever has to have it registered. Furthermore, ammunition will be electronically tracked. When you look at this now you might say, big whoop, just one more hoop to jump through and bam you have a gun. However, long term, now authorities know exactly who has what and where to find them so when shit hits the fan disarming New York is easy. Sucks that I just bought a house here otherwise I'd consider moving. Oh well |

When I wrote to my state senators I told them how concerned I was on the upcoming assault on the second amendment.
Even from my democratic senator, I got a reply saying she had no intention of dismantling the second amendment since she too enjoys to hunt. I love NC. Sorry NY...

The magazines would have to be sold not the guns. So you'd have to down-size from 10 round mags (instituted about 15 years ago) to 7 rounders. It'll be interesting to see how they enforce this but they probably didn't really think about it.

The most populus areas of NY state are literally walking distance from other states. It's just dumb.
Murder is already illegal. These laws do nothing but make currently law abiding citizens into criminals.

LOL- going from 10 to 7 rounds (in legal guns only) is sure to make crime plummet. What a dick move.
If a gun was designed around a mag that holds more than 7 rounds, then this is an infringement on your right to keep those arms. |

This does seem to be implementing a law ex-post-facto, requiring the things to be sold. Unconstitutional double-whammy, but at least it'll offer zero benefits, too. |

If anyone is looking to sell their PX4 Storm mags I'll buy them from you
This won't do anything to curb crime unfortunately. And when it doesn't work the answer won't be to revisit the laws and see why the don't work, it will be to ban guns even further.

Not only will it not curb crime, I strongly believe you'll see an increase in crimes and violent crimes in NY.

I see the crime rate rising drastically. Do they really think that criminals are going to register their guns? Hell no! The "black market" exists for a reason.

So can you just have a 14 round magazine, like for a .40 and only keep 7 rounds in it? Or no?

That will be a no. The fun part for everyone in new york is going to be waiting for these new 7 round mags to come out for your guns, then trying to get them as they're picked off the shelves as soon as they arrive.
