Help launching

Maybe I've misread all the posts and misunderstood launching at 1,700rpms, and maybe those were sticks, but I had always thought people were brake standing the 'Steps.'
Out of just not wanting to abuse the trans, I haven't done a hardcore launch since buying. I now have 19,000 miles. Last weekend I tried a brake stand to 1,700rpms with the DSC half off and it bogged down immediatly. Then I tried with the DSC off totaly and it did the exact same thing. How do I get 4.9's out of my Step? Am I doing something wrong? As soon as I step off the gas with revs, or hit up to the 1,700 the thing bogs down.

Feels like my Dad's old 82' Vette, bogging down and preventing wheel slip by retarding timing or fuel...

Hold the brakes. Raise RPM's to 1700. Release brake pedal like it is a clutch and hammer down the gas.

I had the same issue. I raced a buddy's STI a couple days back and I could not get my car not to bog down off the line. By that time he had two lengths on me. Darn AWD cars!

If it bog you need to give the car more gas (rpm).

a. make sure the car is in first. use paddles or your step to shift.
b. traction all the way off
b. brake the car hard. rev to 1,700rpm
c. release brake like you're dropping the clutch in a manual, and simultaneously stop the gas hard. only release off the gas slightly if you get bad wheel spin. however, if you're stock, you won't have a problem in your step.

with the installation of my TT, after an ecu re-learn, i spin the tires off the line for a solid 2 seconds. makes me smile every time

for Step, when changing gears, do you need to release the gas and change gear?
