2007 328i does not start, starter clicks, but no crank
It happend today. It started having long cranks since one week, esp on a cold start. It has original BMW 90AH battery which still shows green in the indicator, but my scan gauge showing 11.7v.
Today afternoon it did not start, it made weird sound, and a click but no crank. Assuming dead battery, I tried jump starting using my another car which has decent battery. Also tried charging from another car for about 25min, and tried jump after that also. But still no crank. Some posts indicated that it may need thicker gauge/or two jump cable to give enough current. In the end I got new battery Everstart Max 49BCI ( similar rating as this one, except higher CCA, RC 150, Close to 90AH). It showed 12.9v, before install, and I replaced the battery as per instructions on this forum. But I still have same problem with cranking. It simply clicks, and no crank. Any idea? Is it possible the start motor solenoid is stuck? If it is the case how to go about it? Is it possible it is a starter problem? If so, how hard it is to replace starter motor? Thanks |

Just got starter replaced with Autozone re-manufactured unit. Starts like a champ. But now SES light came on and code is P0000. Is it because battery is disconnected?

It seems it came because battery was disconnected. I drove a while and cleared the code, and drove 20 miles again. It did not show up again.
But I am observing new issue. Upon engine start (does not matter warm start or cold start), engine behaves as if there is a misfire and about to stall, whole car shakes. Then Engine RPM goes up, and come down , and after 30 seconds it seems to settle down. Does it seems like vacuum leak? FYI, this works is done by indy, but it seems there guys did not have much experience in E90 series. |
