Halo rings not lighting up upon unlock

I've searched everywhere but can't seem to find a solution to my problem.

The Halo Rings should light up upon unlocking the car but they don't. Everything in the computer is configured for the rings to light up and my lights are always set to "auto".

Battery is also fine since it just got changed less than half a year ago. I don't think the rings ever lit up ever since I bought the car. It just came to my attention since a family friend's 07 328i had the rings light up so I was curious.

Any one know the issue here? Thanks.

Your "welcome" lights are selected to be "on"
I know when mine didn't light up was due to a weak battery, you replaced yours but that doesn't mean anything...check the voltage.
Also your doors are locked for a few minutes before unlocking right?

I'm wondering if your car is not coded to have welcome lights which to me is so stupid that some cars have some features and others don't. Make it all one!

Of you unlocked and locked the car more than twice before driving then it will stop lighting up the next time.

No, it will not light up even the first time.

Is your light switch on auto? If not then there is your problem. Can't tell from your avatar but do you have xenon headlights?

Read the post, I stated that my lights are always set on "auto"

2006 December. However, my computer does show that I have lights turned on upon unlock.

Based on your build date, your car has FRM1 and it doesn't support welcome lights. You will need to retrofit FRM2 or FRM3 or find a way to hardwire it.

my has a mind of its own

i replaced my cheap halogen with depos. After a few days/weeks it stopped lightning up whenever i unlocked the car. Idk what the issue is because there are times where all the sudden it would light up upon unlocking it. Also the rear license plate lights react the same way. Help!?

There is a sound symbol, and light symbol for unlock. Both of them are active.

How come this other 2007 328i has it? He doesn't have the sound option upon unlock though...

I do have the door handle lights as well as xenons.

The light symbol is for the flashing of the turn signals upon unlock. Sound option is only there if you have the alarm installed.

BMW changed to the FRM2 starting in 03/2007 production.

I have an 06 December e92 and the welcome lights come on when i unlock as we'll as dim off when locking car. Do you have CA on your car ?

I don't have CA and my friends car doesn't have CA as well.

Since I probably have an FRM1 I just wanted to point that out. Not sure if there is a difference between e90/e92

Also note I have CA on mine.

E92/E93 had their own FRM until FRM2 post 03/2007.

I have a similir problem, the halo lights (or welcome lights) use to work but they don't now, I remember changing something on the control panel and I don't know if I mess with something there but they don't work now and I can't seem to find the option that makes it happen

Just try all combinations until they work. Or just use Carly adapetr and app to code them any way you like

Yeah i have an issue like this but one lights up and the other does not has been like this since i bought the car a couple years ago I replaced the h7 bulb but that never fixed that issue im wondering if there is another bulb i could replace to fix that issue i have a sulev 328i 2010
The headlight also was working as well every time i turn on the car only when unlocking the car so it is kinda annoying seeing all the other e90s working properly… smh
