Pros and cons on 07 328

Hey I'm looking to get a 2007 328 and was just wondering what's good about them and what's bad? Any information regarding the 328 will be appreciated. Thanks.

Good thing is that its more reliable than a 335 for example. Bad thing is its slow, and not as appealing I feel like.

Okay thanks, that has been the general gist I have been getting. I have heard the 335 has had some issues with the waste gates.

I think those waste gates are covered by special recall type of warranty. Check the forum, I think its for around 8 years or so.

So far as 328i is concerned, this is 6 cylinder and 230 HP. I'm pretty much happy with my 328i 6MT, gives me enough power to enjoy my daily driving with decent mileage.

Okay, I will look at the warranty but I'm already pretty sold on the 328. Mine will be a 6mt as well. You haven't had any issues with your transmission have you?

So, it wasn't a ton of trouble to solve? Mine should be around 60k miles, is there any upcoming major maintenance that I should know about?

I have CPO still on it but those things are that that bad.. the coil is fairly simple fix.. the starter is just time consuming.. a dealer will kill you on that replace $1000+ but you can find indy shops and do it for like $600 range

That's awesome, that and a bunch of other things is what brought me to the brand.

Awesome. I'm one of those people that likes to do their own work, so as long as the part aren't horrible that's great news.

I have heard the water pumps tend to go, has anyone had any experience or trouble with that?

Just delete the muffler and the charcoal filter inside the airbox and you'll get a decent bmw sound from your 328. Bmws are for mechanically inclined people, so if you are able to turn some wrenches you'll be good with a 07 328i for sure !

Do you think that that will sound better than the m3 style quad exhausts. I was planning on mugging the quads on with an H&R suspension. That was also one of my concerns was being able to do your typical changing spark plugs, oil, etc. A friend of mine has an e46 and says its easy to work on, so I'm glad to hear its the same for the e90s.

Okay and again I don't think that the water pump is all that expensive of a repair.

Water pump is ~1,000 fix w/o a CPO, depending on where you get the service performed. Mine was luckily covered and only paid the $50 deductible. It failed @ ~75K w/o any warning.

Wow that is considerably more expensive than I thought. I have also heard that you are supposed to replace your suspension at 100k miles, have any if you guys heard that?

Never heard that one. The suspension on my E46 was a tad tired, but still OK, when traded at 97k miles.

My '07 328i wagon had some electrical issues at around 45,000 requiring replacement of the alternator and IBS unit under warranty and ultimately the battery. Otherwise, the car is still a joy to drive at 55,000 miles.

I have been lightly searching for a post regarding sports package suspension replacement. I have ~ 83K on my 07 E90. The suspension isn’t in need of replacement just yet, but I can defiantly feel that it’s starting to show its age, especially on bumpy poorly maintained roads. The suspension has always been a bit stiff giving it that sporty feel for a sedan. Mainly looking for what components would need to be replaced.
