I'm so shocked to see the incredible performance of the X5! This is an old model that will be replaced this year, yet it still has strong sales even in the face of increasing gas prices.

On the other hand, the plummeting of the 1 is probably mostly because nothing new happened to it in quite some time now. It's styling is aging, and it is not very "practical", so it really needs to be hot to sale.

So only 5 series and 6 series are on a small plus, 3 series is too lazy, 1 series too old and 7 series too heavy
X3 is waiting its LCI and the rest of light trucks, inclusive X1 and Countryman are on top now |

Now to find Mercedes numbers...
Mercedes's 22,040 vehicles vs. BMW's 21,311. Not bad but Mercedes had another positive month with the C-Class. Interesting to see that cars where BMW is up, Mercedes is down and vice versa. |

Personally, I think, for now anyway, that the plethora of blizzards we've had in the US during Feb is the main reason for the drop in Feb. sales.

So I guess the blizzard didn't hit any Mercedes dealerships? Or Ford? Or GM? They all had decent sales increases last month.

Surprising numbers for the F30. Being a new model, I thought it would've carried the weight of slow selling E92/93s but I guess not.

http://www.autoblog.com/2013/03/01/f...-day-edition/# The new 3-series just isn't cutting it. Seems BMW is bringing the 320i to help with the #s. Sad that they've Audi-fied it to the point where the C-class and A4 are more competitive.

Good.
Maybe it'll open their eyes? I had one as a loaner and it was dismal.

a buyers (shoppers) perspective
I am a 20 year BMW buyer, with E36, 325is and then M3, then a E46 330i and mini Cooper, later a E92 335i Coupe, and now a E89 Z4 3.5i (wife has a 2010, 135i) So looking for her next car, Sat in X1, Cheap, Drove X3, Yawn, and not making the grade, Drove X6 and X5, and the X5 was the only one I was impressed with. Well X6 is ok as well, but to pricey and to many compromises. Anyhow.
Still not sure, she looked at the new 535i and thought it looked like a Buick. New F30 is just ok, and she wants something more unique. Not sure if we will end up in a BMW, but my impressions is the interior style is just plain weird. iDrive, was not impressive either. So we are still looking. Sales on 3 may be down due to no new 3 coupe, but hard to rev'ed up about at 50k 4 cyl car. |

Sadly the numbers indicate consumers buying entry-level imported sport sedans do not see value in the F30. Question remains is it the price, style or both?

I would venture to guess the higher sales number in February 2012 for the 3 series may have been attributed to people picking up the last of the E90's that would have been discounted with the F30 then hitting the dealer lots.

Last I heard BMW was at the top of the luxury sales market. When that's where you are, weather is enough to bring you down. Others may well see an increase simply because they were behind. You need to maintain sales to stay ahead.
