Just Found Out I Got Screwed Over

Buyer Beaware! I should have done more due diligence.

So I'm cruising down the highway with my the car I bought about 4 months back, suddenly I noticed the low pressure light go off for my rear left tire. Now at this point I'm a little worried but I'm about 6 miles from the house and I'm thinking well good thing this car has RFT tires I should be able to make it back safely, wrong I hear a loud pop and pull over right immediately to inspect the tire .

Apparently the bastard that sold me the car replaced all the tires with cheap non run flats, which wouldn't piss me off so much if he just left a fucking spare.

Most people's first few mods is to swap out the RFTs...guess one should check out to see what they're working with after buying a used car. Sorry it happened...

That's terrible --- sorry for your loss! Seller should have been proactive in disclosing anything that is not true to OEM specs!!!

This might be the opportunity for you to put on some nice tires. I'm on my 4th set on the front and 5th set on the rears --- 2007 E91 with 116K miles.

Started out w the tires that came wiht the new car: Bridgestone Potenza RE050 RFTs. Nice performing, but did not last long and were loud. Tried a second set of same RE050s --- lasted a bit longer, but still loud.

Next were Continental ContiSports RFT --- very noisy and did not wear evenly --- so noisy I thought I had worn out front bearings. Replaced bearings at ~ $500, but sound was still there.

Then finally went to NON Run Flat --- Michelin Pilot Sport A/S --- very quite, handles well, we'll see how many miles I'll get out of it.

Good luck!

+1 standard procedure on e90post is to get rid of those run flats lol. You can't really blame the previous owner for you not being aware of what you were buying.

You didn't do your research proper dude especially buying a used car. Those are better then the garbage RFTs that came with the car. Next thing your gonna say you trusted everything the dealer said and didn't get a licensed mechanic to look over the car before purchase .......that's a big no, no especially when buying a 335i.

Not sure if serious. You bought a car. He changed out the tires for better ones. You get mad because you get a flat. What did I miss...Oh the part where you didn't check if you had non rfts....

Lesson learned every American will point fingers at their own mistakes.

Why didn't you inspect the tires when you bought it? It's 50% your fault for not inspecting and 50% his fault for not telling the truth.

You can't take anybody's word when you buy anything private party unless it comes brand new retail from the store.

The god honest first thing to do with buying car is to run the VIN too. Make sure that car ain't stolen, salvaged, etc. Can't take their word for it.

Well unless he specifically told you that the car had RFT's then you are alone to blame.
Don't assume a used car is gonna come with factory standard tires (especially considering RFT's suck).

that sucks, but now you get new tires, and will be set for awhile without having to worry about tires.

RFT's are crap, most people get rid of them. For $200+ a tire you can get WAY more. Lucky you didnt bend your rim though.

Honestly, you can look at a tire and it will say "rft" on it. Sorry to be harsh, but you have no one to blame but yourself... I hope you get the tire fixed soon.... RFTs suck. I swapped my out for different tires shortly after I bought the car
