gear oil smell?
I get a smell after going WOT or aggressive on the gas and it smells just like fear oil. Reason this concerns me I'd I have a wavetrac installed in the pumpkin and the seals where slightly leaking, took it back and got this resolved and there is no evidence of leaks anywhere. Only thing I can think of is the differential cover is slightly leaking at the top somewhere and no fluid is leaking...just the smell. I used the "right stuff" gasket maker and it has always worked great in the past.
Edit: I did use JB weld to seal a weld that had a bit of water draining out near the mid pipes. I can't see JB weld making a smell once cured....exhaust is not that hot that far down. Any ideas?

before my transmission checked out, after driving it hard i would always smell transmission oil. not sure if it smells like the "right stuff" but it smells bad and more of a hydraulic fluid smell. when i pulled the transmission i noticed there was an overflow valve on top of the trans, and it had oil residue around it, i figured the smell came from there. but i know for a fact i never overfilled my trans. if you know what the ZF 6 fluid smells like you might be able to relate. good luck and i hope its nothing close to your trans god forbid.

slightly, more outside the car and in trunk...passenger side is worst...I think maybe brakes. I also replaced a filter under the fender liner a week ago. Snell goes away in 2-3 mins.
