Canadian Tracking

Great news, I got the VIN# from my dealership today, my car is in status 52, whatever that means. Then I got the production# from BMW Canada 1-800-567-2691 by telling them my VIN, unfortunately I found out that there is no phone number or website that helps customers in Canada track their orders like in the USA. The lady at BMW Canada said the dealership where we buy the cars has the best info on our orders.

Maybe this could have gone in the tracking section, but whatever.

This is the website I used to track my car while it was shipping to Halifax from Germany. our car's VIN # will be the cargo ID #. GL.

Or try this thread from long ago on how to track your car's production.

I think you're out of luck until your car gets on to the boat ... at least I was!

The dealership should be able to give you an approximate production week (I think).

BMW's better drop in price in Canada

or it is not worth it, I have an 08 on order and if the price doesn't drop I'll cancel and buy a lightly used US car the CDN dollar will surpass the US dollar this year. Who cares about the free maintenance we get screwed anyway, the brakes always go in the first year and unlike the US we aren't covered. I'm getting tired of playing second fiddle here.

i believe our brakes are covered in the first 4 years/80,000 km free maintenance thingy.

My understanding is that the brakes are NOT covered unless you buy the extended maintenance package (or whatever BMW calls it). In the US, I believe more of the wear/tear items are covered.

The US cars come std with logic 7 as well Coupe that is and their PDI is way less than half of what we pay, as are almost all the options plus they have a very attractive Ed program.....we are getting short changed.

I have an '08 335i on order, but I feel exactly the same way -- if I can't negotiate a good enough price, I will be buying in the US. One of the local dealers here in Ottawa (Elite) told me that the 2008 Canadian price list was due out yesterday.

Hang on tight! It will be about 4 weeks before you can actually drive your baby.

Canadian pricing was released yesterday -- very small changes with no price increase for 2008. For the 335i, the Premium package no longer includes the Logic7 speakers but adds BMW Assist with Bluetooth for $3950. The new Premium Sound package has the Logic7 speakers and USB audio for $1200. The bottom line for my spec is a savings of $150. I've asked my dealer to come up with a price -- the deposit I gave them requires that they deliver to me in 90 days (which comes up in a week), so unless I like the numbers they give me, I will be shopping in the US...

I just redid my Cdn vs US calcs -- including the current exchange rate (1.00087), duty (6.1%) brokerage (about $180), GST and PST, the savings buying my 335i sedan in the US (if I could find a dealer to sell to me) would be $15,000 (a savings of about 22%.) The difference is a car with MPH instead of KPH, and headlight washers (part of the cold weather package that are only installed on xi's in Canada.) I am very tempted...

I suggest everyone who has a car ordered or is considering to buy to write to BMW Canada, that is what I just did, my car is arriving mid October and seriously considering to cancel my order.
