I actually like it. It's very aggressive and looks much better than most JDM cars.

997 is a Totally different car. The car has proven itself. It's sets a benchmark for the competitors. What Nissan is doing with the VR motors is yet to be seen. Keep in mind this new motor is a redesigned engine based of the Le man car. It will also be using the new "Integrated Exhaust Manifold Turbine" so upgrading it won't be as easy like in the past. It's to soon to speculate, but i can't justify paying that amont of money into V6 coupe regardless the power. The car has still yet to prove itself.

Most people would change the manifold along with the turbo anyway, it's not really a big deal at all. Look at the SRT-4, mani and turbo are one piece, did that stop people from swapping the turbo? I've also heard rumors, supposedly from people close to the project, that the GT-R motor, in stock form, was tested to be reliable at 800hp. As far as the price, the GT-R is supposed to be quite a bit less than $100k. If I recall correctly it's going to starting mid $60k to $70k.

Agreed, Nissan would have been more successful with the earlier Skyline in the U.S. this new car doesn't excite me much. $100k seems a bit high, I agree caddy johnson, $70k seems more reasonable.

Where do you get 100K ??? In Japan is half the cost of the Turbo Porsche ... if pricing stays that means 60K here (120K / 2 = 60K)
7,900,000.00 JPY = 68,770.34 USD (converted via www.xe.com) Look at the last line of the chart below. While the V-spec GT-R gains a two-pedal DSG transmission and six-pot callipers over the standard car, it will also differ cosmetically, with a more prominent rear wing and rakish front bumper. The V-spec will also sport lighter alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the GT-R Evolution, currently pencilled in for release a year after the standard car, in Autumn 2008, will be to the GT-R what the GT3 is to the Porsche 911: a stripped-out, lightweight road-racer, set to form the basis for the NISMO machines participating in the Japanese Super GT Championship. As with the 911 GT3, the GT-R Evolution will do away with its rear seats and make extensive use of high-tech materials in the pursuit of lightness: the bonnet, rear wing and diffusers will be hewn from carbon fibre, while the standard steel doors will be replaced by aluminium items. It has also been postulated that the Evolution will be home to a hand-built, hand-fettled version of the standard car's engine however, power output and performance are not expected to differ overtly from the standard powerplant. Cosmetically, the Evolution will gain an even more agressive rear wing, while certain pieces of carbon fibre trim are expected to remain unpainted. |
