Can I put coilovers in my 328i Msport? What happens to the EDC?
So i just bought a 2013 328i Msport, im looking to lower it and I would prefer coilovers versus springs if possible, however I heard that the Msport has the EDC suspension. I dont know much about the factory EDC so if i were to put coilovers in how would the EDC be effected and how would the rest of the car be effected? I heard that a lot of BMW's electronic components work together and the EDC may be tied into other components. If someone could enlighten me with more information on how this would work I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance. |

note: i removed the front wheel and looked inside, and also removed the rubber cover that sits on the top of the strut, and also looked under the car in the rear, and no signs of electrical components going into the struts. maybe my Msport doesnt have the EDC?

If there are no wires you don't have the madaptive suspension. It's an option on all f30's even the msport. You can do coilovers without the need for EDC delete (madaptive suspension).

I have the same concern, say I go for a KW V1 without the EDC option for that coilover this won't affect any modes? (Sport+/Sport/Comfort/Eco Pro) I am driving a 12' F30 335i with all packages except M. Thanks in advance!

Your modes have nothing to do with suspension. The modes only affect steering and throttle sensitivity. The only exception to this if your car has the added option of DHP.

I'm sorry guys I'm pretty sure you need an edc delete or you'll get a code if you have edc. You won't have the adjustable dampers but everything will work as normal. To my knowledge you need it to do it correctly. Only if its a car with madaptive suspension. Regular msport edc delete is not necessary.

Jamesons, Fotios, thanks for the inputs guys - very much appreciated! I just need to make sure that I do not have the M adaptives/EDC on mine tomorrow. Is DHP included/equivalent in/with the M adaptive suspension?
