exhaust sound with catted DPs

Hey all.. I am thinking of going with a set of catted DPs.. Can anyone tell me how this will change the exhaust sound, depth, or loudness.. I am happy with my factory exhaust sound and don't really want anything louder during regular cruising.. louder at WOT would be fine.. thanks!

I didn't notice much of a difference with my AR catted DP's, maybe a little more turbo spool sound but that is it.

That being said, I would highly recommend not wasting your money as the newer versions of the software on the car have tightened the ranges for the 02 sensors to operate in, so most catted downpipes don't actually work. AR claims you need the these $2000 cat's to make them work on newer software.

Mine worked for about a year, then got a software update and they throw CEL's and had to do a DP fix from BMS, so wish I just went catless and saved a bunch of money.

From AR's website (29.2 is like the original 2008 and older software)

NO CEL on pre 29.2 cars. Post 29.2 cars may require a DP Fix.

@BuraQ is running catted DP's with Dinan mufflers. His exhaust sounds great, let him chime in.

@BuraQ has a RennTech tuned 2011 335is with cP-e downpipes with high flow cats, and it's emissions legal in all 50 states without any "funny stuff". I am sure he has the latest firmware on his car.

+1 +1

Car has the latest update for the DME and the DCT. Never had a CEL due to the high flow catted DPs and its been 1.5 years having the tune and beaten the hell out of the car race after race

I did however have DP fitment issues and exhaust leaks and had to have them "tailored" to the specifics...issue fixed

Here is an exhaust note vid:
