Just ordered my VRSF FMIC!

Well I decided on the VRSF intercooler. Just placed my order, hoping it will be here by friday because that is my only day off and my neighbor and I are going to install it then. Very excited for this to come. I'm pretty sure I am going ot stop the modding here, this should be more than enough to make me and my engine happy

I will take pics of the intercooler as well as the installation steps as we do it for those who are interested. Thanks for all the great feedback and for convincing me to get the FMIC.

Enjoy man! I'm waiting on mine myself, paying $150 to have it installed at MNC Performance!

Yeah...good luck with the whole "I'm stopping here" bit, lord knows it didn't work for me.

That is a pretty good price IMO. I paid 125 for the 5" which is a little bit quicker to install I thinks. Also I live in vegas now and most things here are quite a bit cheaper than they were back in NY.

Did it myself, took me about 3-3.5 hours to do it on jack stands. It was a pretty easy install, everything fit great and went smoothly. Just can't be afraid to do some trimming, that is if you went with the 7" like me.

Well, my neighbor is very good with cars so I think him and I could do it. However, I know someone who owns a Sunoco garage, so maybe I should just take it to them. I wonder if any garage would be able to install it?

If he's good with cars don't worry, the trim seems to be the hardest part. Any shop should be able to do an FMIC swap.

If your neighbor is good with cars then I'd say go for it. The DIY's and threads that I've read through on this forum are helpful and do a good job showing what needs trimming along with other good pointers. It's a pretty straightforward install.

We dont have a lift here, just some jacks, so it is definitely going to be cramped under there and probably a pain to do. I think I will probably just take it to my friends shop where they can actually put the car on a lift and do it. It's a small little sunoco shop so I'm just worried they might mess something up lol

Having a lift would likely be useful, but I really didn't have too much issue doing it on jack stands...unlike my down pipe install.

Bought the VRSF 5" FMIC and installed it myself. Took roughly 2 hours, extremely easy if you have a lift. I have an aftermarket front bumper so I had to take that off to get the FMIC in. I also recommened you really tighten the pipings because mine popped off after some pretty hard driving with my JB4. Have fun!

All intercooler installs are pretty much the same and straight forward.

On a scale of 1-10. 10 Being hard like turbo swap and 1 being installation of an intake I would put the intercooler at a 3 just because you need to be on your back. The actual install is easy and straight forward. Trimming for some intercoolers is simply tedious and an extra step. Nothing about it is actually hard to do or understand though. Any competent backyward mechanic should be able to do it without a sweat.

It's just 2 pipes that connect.

As I said in another thread about installation.... "If you have to ask...."

Going to install it tomorrow morning guys. Few questions I have. For the VRSF, it comes with two hoses, in the video on youtube he uses the owm hoses to connect to the hpp ic, so do I use the hoses the vrsf provided me with? Also in the video he uses the oem brackets, vrsf gave my 4 big brackets so I guess I should use them?

you have to remove factory plubming and use the vrsf plumbing

The couples attach to the vrsf fmic anmd then attach onto the factory coupler or the factory coupler has to be removed and it attaches onto the piece the factory coupler was removed from?

The intercooler install was pretty straightforward for me. The only thing that slowed me down was not having a dremel, or some sort of metal cutting tool. The clamp on the rubber OEM hose that goes into the intercooler on the passenger side needs to be cut off in order to use VRSF's new hoses. Good luck, and have fun!
