N54 Vacuum Line Nipple Retrofit

I thought I would just share my experience with this stupid plastic nipple for the vacuum line nipple on the N54. I, like may others evidently, broke mine off accidentally when installing my chargepipe and BOV. I tried drilling it with the intake manifold attached but it didn't work (see pic). I wound up removing the intake manifold completely (at 9pm on a Sunday) and installing a brass nipple instead and now its working great with no issues at all.

Materials:
- 3/8 brass fitting from home depot
- J-B Weld

- I removed the intake manifold then drilled out the hole with a slightly smaller hole than the brass nipple.
- Then I mixed the j-b weld and applied to the outside of the nipple.
- Then I Hammered the nipple into the hole I made (gently)
- I then applied a whole s#!$ load of jb weld on the outside of the nipple

Again, just wanted to put this out there for others who have done the same and don't want to spend the $700 for a new manifold.

Oh Crap Moment

Tried to drill it without removing the intake manifold:

Intake Manifold off

Final Product!

This is one way to do it but keep in mind the plastic is very brittle and forcing something in will risk cracking if the hole isn't large enough.

I remedied this by drilled a a larger hole then using a tap to create a thread for the threaded fitting. I also used JB weld on the threads to promote a good seal.

+1 I'd definitely use a threaded fitting for this, but yours looks like it worked too. =)

I agree, couldn't fine one quick enough. I made the hole just big enough to get it in and figured the kb weld would seal any gaps.
