Does Aviation Gas have lead?

i read in some forums that aviation gas has lead. and that adding it to car gas (to boost octane is a no no (because of the lead).

i am now being told here in quito ecuador, that the aviation gas here DOES NOT have lead. since planes fly into countries all over the world, there must be an international standard of aviation gas that says if lead IS or IS NOT in aviation gas.

i know about most all of the ways to boost octane, but aviation gas here in ecuador definitely has it's advantages.

SOMEONE IN THIS FORUM MUST KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS SIMPLE QUESTION.:help:

thanks

All AVGAS, 100LL has lead. A big nono to carburated engine in cars. Dont do it. 100LL = Low Lead.

In my past flight training, AVGAS and MOGAS don't mix, even certain avaiation engines can use MOGAS (car gas) as substitues, the detontation properties aren't as good as the commonly used 100LL. Either way, no way to put 100LL in your bimmer unless you like to experiment with a repair bill.... where you live, Ecuador, it is possible that you see other AVGAS available, that is below 100LL catagories. But most of the airports now only carries 100LL. Anything above 100LL will be JetA.

There's 3 different AVGAS:

Red dye colored: 80 octane
Green dye color: 100 octane
Blue colored: 100 octane low lead (AKA 100LL)

Jet A is kerosene with additives to combat microgrowth and ice crystals in the fuel. Octane rating comes out to somewhere like 40-48 if used in a piston engine.

Jet B is the same as above but can withstand freezing temps better and often the military uses it.

do you run the leaded fuel every day in a daily driver, OR is it a track car?

your different fuel lines, understood. but what are RAILS ?
also, you think your gas TANK will be O.K. in a few years ?

how hard would it be to replace an o2 sensors in a 335? and what were the symptoms that told u the o2 sensor needed to be replaced?

most interested.
thanks

777ER knows his stuff. If you have a diesel you can burn jet fuel, but otherwise stay away from avgas. The lead will ruin the catalytic converter and foul the plugs and valves

well i have dif fuel rails bc i switched from side feed to top feed injectors, my car constantly has it in it, but its not a daily driver and i def wouldnt recomend c16 for a dd if you have a high hp car i would not recomend tunning over non leaded 100oct other then that its basically a non dd and even 100oct gets very expensive, so honestly stick to pump 93 with a 100oct map, about my gas tank honestly i really dont know only time will tell for me so i know there is a reaction for every action i take, 02 sensors arent that hard to replace they are just sensors in the downpipe, also remember i dont have cats, so leaded fuel will eat right thru them..
