LOL @ the Focus ST being in there. A C7 Vette should have been there instead.

All the gold diggers in an 50 mile radios died of panty explosions.
They will be missed. Mostly because they were all hot!

That's in Irvine by the Great Park. I've driven an SL-63 down that same stretch during a Mercedes event.

Also, no Aventador, or McLaren this year, so I think this is disqualified from "Greatest Drag Race" consideration.

GM didn't have a C7 ready in time.

The 14' mp412c is going to be sinful quick and fast.
Re-worked front should be nice too.
The 300k is the part that hurts my teefasis.

they only test new cars that have just been released to the public or have been modified in some way. i think the gtr should have been kicked out. it's been there for 3 years and technically yes it has been tweaked every year but not enough to keep bringing it back for a drag race

i'm curious why they only do a 1/4 mile and not 1/2 or something. Seems like the GTR will pretty much always win

The trap speed on the SLS Black is impressive. If it was a 1/2 mile race, I'm sure the SLS would've beat out the GT-R. Definitely not bad for a RWD launch

It would make a GTR look like it let off the throttle after 120 MPH.

Running 1-mile is what shows you how fast a car actually is. 1/4-mile is no longer even on the radar for proper high-end cars.

So what real life roads in the USA are people going to hit those speeds on without killing themselves or some family in a minivan?

1/4 is much more useful here. Overseas? I don't know.

So you routinely do 120+ MPH on public roads? We have a genius here, folks.

Any stretch of open highway with close to zero other cars and no on-ramps.

No, it's not. I can't remember the last time I launched a car from a sand-still. Also, anywhere that you can safely come to a stop and accelerate hard will likely have much more traffic/cross-traffic than a highway in the late evening or early morning. Launching a car presents other dangers which don't exist at speed, such as an inexperienced driver panicking at the loss of traction in 1st or 2nd gear, over-reacting, and spinning out.

Apparently, you've never driven a fast car.

In no way do I condone reckless driving, but 120 MPH is nothing in a properly fast car. That's roughly 5-6 seconds of WOT acceleration starting from 70 MPH. The overall distance covered and time spent at that speed is very small compared an average sports car accelerating on a highway to say 100 MPH. Also, this caliber of car can change direction and/or slow down from high speed more effectively than your average car can from even legal highway speeds.

Again, not condoning driving like a retard, but just putting it in context. The vast majority of someone testing the acceleration of their car for fun is done while the car is already moving, not from a standstill like 16 year-old Jimmy taking mom's Camry out for the first time.

Supposedly, MT got a C7 vs 911 test at Laguna and on the street not long after this...heard the C7 did pretty well. There was an F12 there too for fun.

The R8 and 911 times impressed me. I would love to see this done with better tires on the RWD cars.

It was directed at the mile vs quarter part of your post.
What difference do the distances make regarding street scenarios?
A Prius can kill you doing 30 in a parking lot.

These are closed facility tests. Why not wring the motor out?

No worries.
Cheers.

Re: the c7.
What the heck is taking so long for release?
Did they go back in and tweak some things?
It seems like a year ago that it was unveiled .

Totally missed my point I guess.

I clearly was not talking about this test.
