130 mph and up (bushings)
I have a 2009 e92 i bought the car used and since purchase i have bought new tires (bridge stone potenzas) that were road force balanced, and the car recently had been aligned by someone with decades of racing experience. long story short 2 times in the past 2 days ive gotten up 2 130 mph on the highway during impromptu races, and when i do i have to back off because the body feels like its saying " fuck u idc where u are steering im gunna glide" it feels like the front goes extreemly light and is floating on ice the steering feels extremely loose like im not in control. somone told me it may be my bushing? the car is saying that it needs to be serviced in 150 miles can that have something to do with it?

I want to know too, is my car floating or is this how driving over such and such miles feels like (I don't feel like I am in control turning).

It could be the alignment. My car snakes like that when the toe is slightly off, but after that was fixed, I'm able to go 120+. I'd bring it into service first, but just keep it safe on the speeds for now.

ok i hear you. thats goo to know that even the m can feel floaty at those speeds but i cant help but think that it is a little bit more loose than it should be, i guess just for piece of mind i want to have it looked at. maybe its because for the last four year ive been driving a g35 and at those speeds the steering doesnt feel as loose as it does in my current e92

I came from a Subaru STI that I pegged at 155 and felt great.
My 335i xdrive felt terrible at anything above 80. Notice the xdrive. Changed the springs/shocks to eibach/koni, and now its way more stable at those speeds. Even at 120 the car feels more planted. Car still has too much sway in it. Avoiding objects in the highway causes the car to loose balance. Maybe my next car will be another STI. |

Don't be a douche. Inside those metal and plastic objects with four rubber wheels are real families and mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, sons, and daughters.
I am pretty certain you're not track certified, and you cannot account for others on the road that will interfere with your high speed romps and put you in a world of shit, or worse still, someone else. Make no mistake- no one has a winning streak forever, and everyone's number gets pulled sooner or later. Hopefully you take it to the track from now on, or come to your senses on public roads, but neither seems likely. Aren't you having a kid soon? Grow up dude. Perhaps we'll read about you and your mangled wreck of a car at some point in the news section. We'll be waiting. How was that for Internet PSA nanny posting about public street racing? Please rate on a scale from one to five mangled BMWs below. Cheers and have a Happy and SAFE LDW everyone! |

hope you get pulled over next time, then you can think about your bushings in prison
nah, i mean that would be hilarious if you got a ticket for 130 mph, i'd have to make a trip to Costco to cover the popcorn supply i'd need. i wonder what the repercussions would be in FL... in New Jersey they'd likely skin you alive on the spot actually they don't even follow you at those speeds if i'm not mistaken. it's like "well you've broken the law in such a drastically over the top manner that you've won, bravo." like if you commit genocide they don't consider it murder or something along those lines

I've done 155 recently on completely destroyed bushing and new Eibach springs (so it wasn't completely aligned) and it felt very planted and safe.
