Buying a car from US and bringing to Canada???

Like the title says...

My buddy wants to buy a e92 but since their obviously cheaper in the usa and hes got family there and can buy from there he plans on doing that.

But since he lives in the GTA and wants to register the car in Ontario and stuff.

Sooo my question is, if he buys a car from the usa, say buffalo, and drives it up here, whats the rules and regulations? Is he gonna have to pay tax at the border? and if so how much? what if its marked as a gift from his parents (the car is going to be bought under their name)?

The point is that several people have answered your question several times over in the last few weeks. And each time, days or even hours later, a new thread pops up asking the same question.

There are lots of steps to go through so why should someone go to the trouble of listing all of these steps for you when a five-second search would get you the information you need?
