TPMS sensors required if swapping to aftermarket wheels?

Anyone have changed their wheels with aftermarket rims know TPMS will alarm if sensors not fitted to wheels?

Whats the monitor in the car status area? Mine definitely shows something about tire pressures.

It's not as advanced as the old mans 5 series but it's told me when I've had low pressure.

We still have the warning system in the Idrive but not the TPMS which uses sensors in the wheels. We use the rotating system.

We have flat tyre monitoring, uses the car's ABS wheel speed sensors to see if one is flat.

No issues with aftermarket wheels or anything. Should an error appear after changing wheels a simple reset through the on dash prompts will sort it out.
