335GT ED
I picked up and drove our new 335GT (luxury line, imperial blue/saddle) last week in Germany and it was a blast.
I didn't test drive the GT beforehand and have to admit that I was a bit surprised initially by the somewhat 'soft' suspension feel in comfort mode (I come from an S4 as my daily driver). But I quickly got used to it as the set-up proved responsive and composed when pushed on tight mountain roads or fast autobahn bends. And it was a very smooth and comfortable ride, even with 19 inch wheels and runflats. Ultimately, the mix is exactly what I would want for our family car. Btw., the sport+ mode (has adapative susp. package) seems to tighten things up quite a bit. But the mode deactivates traction control, which I did not want to do without for too long during fast driving under mostly wet conditions. I almost always kept it in sport, which felt just right. I said before and still believe that the N20 is the more reasonable choice. But the N55 engine is so much fun and its character couldn't fit the car better. You can cruise along riding the abundant torque at low RPMs, and the engine really comes alive screaming under full throttle (which I could start enjoying after break-in towards the end of the trip). And I love the look of the dual exhaust tips on this car... It was apparent that the car was at home touring the autobahn, with the longer wheelbase probably adding stability. 130-140 mph came very quickly and effortlessly. The blind spot assistant came very handy on the autobahn. HUD with NAV worked fantastically. I will definitively miss going fast with this car knowing its potential. Now I can't wait for it to get here. |

Jealous. I was planning to pick up a 335GT mid Sept as we'll but scheduling killed it for me. Next summer for sure. How is the steering? Enjoy

The steering is clearly a paradigm change for a BMW in the 'feel' aspect compared to previous generations, and I know has caused quite some controversy. But for me personally the steering felt absolutely fine. It allowed easy maneuvering at low speeds and became noticeably stiffer at higher speeds. I think it makes total sense from a functionality perspective for regular driving and one will get used to it.
I added a couple of pics from the BMW Welt. |

Thanks all. I really do like the wheels; look better on the car in real than on the web IMO.
AndyMD, is yours imperial blue too? Wasn't sure from pics. |
