APR chip destroyed my Audi

have a 2005 B7 Audi A4 as my second car. Its due to go back in 2 months. Its already paid off. 2 years ago. July 2005 to be exact, I was at waterfest in New Jersey, and APR tuning was there doing the ECU upgrades to Audi models. I paid $500 to get this upgrade. It made my car a whole lot quicker. NO problems until now. I never drove the Audi like a maniac. I drove it aggressively of course but not in a manner that would cause the problems Im about to mention. 2 months ago, the transmission blew. Got it repaired under warranty. Audi knew about the ECU upgrade but let it slide and fixed it under warranty. 3 weeks after I get the car back, it breaks down on the highway and smoke poured out of the hood and exhaust so muich, I couldnt see. Just got a call from Audi today saying that they cant warranty it, and they want to charge me $5000. I want to sue APR. Anyone have any similar experiences? What should I do? I know this should be [posted on the Audi forums but it applies to cars in general so I figure Id share it with you guys

you modded your car...i just about think you're screwed...sadly, you willingly bought their product...whatever warranty that applies to the product they'll honor, but they're not responsible for your powertrain...

I'm just waiting for the legions of Proceed users to be in this exact same spot...

Nothing is free, least of all HP...

Sucks man, but there isn't anything to Sue anyone for. The ECU "Upgrade" caused the premature death of your vehicle most likely. But it's done as a "No Warranties" thing JUST LIKE Proceed...

So, that's most likely your ass...

Why would Proceed hurt the car? Sorry, I just don't understand...

proceed claims to raise boost levels and adjust timing/fuel accordingy. While this may sound great you are still raising the manufacturer specified operating levels. Therefore you are increasing risk of damage just like any other aftermarket chip or tune.

Its playing with fate, and you will more than likely lose

I don't think you can sue anybody. The product is not from Audi. And the guys that sold it to you will only warranty the product and are not liable if anything happens to your car.

Like the previous poster said, you have to pay if you want to play.

GL with everything, though.

Trying to sue APR (or any other company that sells mods) is ultimately a waste of time and money. No one any where in the legal system is going to feel pity for your plight.

That sucks man. Sorry to hear that.

This is why I will stay away from Procede. The 335i is fast enough for me as a daily driver.

rocket they didnt fuck up your car, you did. You knew the risk when installing it program and this is the result.

Plus 5k parts and labor for all that went wrong is a great deal being as that turbos alone cost at least 3k

Ill get them down from $5k. I did know the risks. I was skeptical before I had it done. Was a mistake, a very expensive mistake.
