Need help with springs
Just picked up some lowering springs from ECS, they are the ECS brand. I contacted local shops and they quoted me at 650-700 dollars! I understand european cars are expensive to work on however i had springs on my old 02 330 and my 07 gti, and they were done for 75$ and 200$ respectively. Anyone know any shops in the bay area that arnt so harsh on there labor/install prices? or even a knowledgeable person who could do it in there backyard or something? lol
EDIT & FYI; Called alot of shops in the local area here are my results; Livermore Big o (900$) Livermore Eurotech (750$) Fremont Swat Customs (280$) San Jose Tech3 (480$) Livermore CJ's (580.60$) Pleasnton Performance Tech (wont touch) Livermore Auto center (585$) Dublin Jeffs performance (wont touch) Hayward A-1 springs (300$) Pleasnton B&S (wont touch) Pleasnton Autotech (220$) Dublin Edge (Wont get back to me) Last edited by njleeson; 10-17-2013 at 03:59 PM.. lol 6-700. what a joke. if you're even semi-mechanically-inclined, just do it yourself. it's really easy and should take about 2 hrs... took me i think 4hrs my first time? cant quite remember.
otherwise just call around.. shops should charge about $200-250 for install only

Take it to a tuner shop. You got quoted shop time. I paid $175.

$700 is steep.
-follow the DIY guide -find yourself a spring compressor -grab some beer and have fun -make sure to get an alignment right after |

I have a couple other things i need to have put on as well, went a little mod crazy when i bought the beast... Livermore is not the place to do anything to with a bmw; aside from buying wheels at APEX Im thinking about Edge in dublin. But i way just go with DIY. |

Nice Video, I think this is definitely the way to go. I actually purchased the set up from you guys.
I called Big-O and they said it would be about 900 for the install and 800 without a alignment... I was like really? and they said that the front alone is a 4 hour job... i said no thanks... There has to be a shop somewhere in the bay that doesn't rape people, or if they do at least will give you a reach around... |
