Question
Hello, I bought a car today and dealer check my out liked it the deal went trough signed the loan papers and drove off---dealer calls me back few hours later telling the check engine light is on in my car. Now llegally am I responsible for that do I have to return him his car and take mine back what are my options can I tell him its not my problem anymore what should I do and what can I do llegaly????

If the papers were already signed and you've left the property, it's his problem.

I don't think he would get very far but he could certainly try. At this point, he's probably trying to scare you but you did not offer him any type of warranty so it is my non-law-degree-having opinion that he has no case.

Calm down.
If docs are signed and you exchanged keys...deals done. You could be polite in telling him so. Don't be a jerk because they could mess with you if they want. |

Its the used car managers baby now.
They are supposed to give the green light that the car checks out before you drive off. I would not say "let me know" regarding anything . You need to move on and with a clear conscience . |

Legal. Llegal is some sort of weird llama law.
When we bought our current car, moments after signing the paperwork, someone drove into our trade in. The dealer told us, but admitted it was now their car, so they'd handle all of it. You're in the clear on this one, but may want to avoid that dealership for a little while. |

Same thing happened to a friend of mine awhile back. He just swapped cars back without giving the dealership a hard time but because he did he found the same car with lower mileage at a better price one week later. Karma.
