Hey. My temperature reads -40F. I already looked through the forum and found where the sensor should be located. I bought a new sensor and plugged it in, it didn't work. I bought a new sensor again and a new plug with wires and again it still reads -40F. I plugged the new wires directly onto the old wires higher up but nothing worked . i found no damage along any part of the wires. This should have been an easy fix but i'm stuck. Maybe I need to reset the temperature with and obd scanner ?? I have no idea .
Please
Thank you

Are you sure you replaced the temp sensor which is in the front bumper?

You might have replaced the air quality sensor which is in front of the passenger by the microfilter on the windshield cowl.

Temp sensor looks like this...

It would be odd but not impossible see if the two wires are touching. I believe it works like most temp sensors resistance increase with temp increase. So showing that cold means your output and input voltage is 5v. Check wiring with a multimeter.

Did the car through a code, if so in the linked thread above it says you need to clear the code before it will show the correct temp. This sensor is uses for various things besides telling you the outside temp, your air condition will not work properly with this being wrong.

Yes it gave me a code , with a check engine light. I searched the code and it was for the ambient temp sensor. I just bought an obd2 scanner, you think thats the reason? I have to clear the code.. I hope so

I had the same problem, did u take of ur bumper or did any work behind the bumper?
the temp sensor is located on the driver side but the wire runs thru passenger under the headliggt.
my problem was pinched wire from swapping bumper.
follow that wire n see if it's ripped or anything.code will clear ones it works again.

My wire is by the bumper on the drivers side. It never goes to the passenger side. I inspected the wire thoroughly and no damage .. You think clearing the code might fix it??
