blub warning light won't go off, special blub?

Searched around without much of a good answer but the outer taillight bulb burnt out (the center one that lights up the line) so went down to autozone grabbed a bulb and put it in and warning light still on >< checked all lights interior and exterior and everything working soooo no clue. i heard the bulb are special though and have to buy like a bmw bulb or some junk like that, this true? or do i just need to keep hunting down this issue?

There are two bulbs in there. Did you change both?

I had this happen to me last week. Turns out it was the tail light bulb thats in the housing mounted to the trunk. I checked and checked (in the day light) and couldn't see anything. I waited that night and checked and saw it clearly. Went to advanced auto (only ones open) and they cross referenced the bulb to the exact one I needed. You don't need a BMW oem bulb if it's just a tail light or reverse light. They gave me 7506 Sylvania bulb... don't hold me to the number of the bulb type... and it matched up perfectly, same voltage and output and everything. Wait till it's night time to check and maybe you can see it then

I missed that you wrote center. It's probably the brake force / rear foglight that only comes on during hard braking.
