Do you know what these are?
I am a first time poster. I run a 2012 M5 (it's the best car I ever owned) and a 2006 Z4M Roadster. I recently carried out an oils swap on the Z4M and came across these two grommets/ bushes, sat on the tray that protects the sump. I had recently changed the spark plugs and wonder if they had fallen down when I removed the spark plug cover. Has anyone any idea where they go. They are 22mm in diameter, tapering to 16mm and look to have a course thread on the inside, they have a depth of about 6mm. Both are imprinted with the word Bruss, one with the number 37 and the other with the number 114. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.

They are supposed to be replaced each time the valve lash is checked. In your particular case, when you changed the spark plugs you had to remove the engine plastic cover (p/n 11127835905). I would say that when you unscrewed the fancy nickel plated nuts (p/n 11121401517) which hold the engine plastic cover, the foremost two nuts didn't come off their studs (p/n 11127838078), but instead the studs unscrewed from the cylinder head together with the nuts. Since the studs came off, the two rubber seals (p/n 11121437395) between the studs and the head cover fell off, and you found them in the sump tray. It's just my scenario (ask me how I know...), but I may be wrong. |
