Friendly Run in OC? M Coupe.

Hey guys... so i always intended on purchasing a 335i but no matter how many times i drove it i just couldn't into it. it was way to0 soft, refined and wasn't really a drivers car. i don't think anyone here will argue that since that's never what it was meant to be. so i ended up picking up a 2007 Z4 M Coupe this weekend cause i got a ridiculous deal, I picked it up in San Fran and drove it back down to OC. on the way home i ran 2 335i's... I don't know specs and they seemed stock especially since one had dealer plates on it... anyways... 1 of them got the jump but by 100 i was a car length ahead of it... and the other one we started basically at the same time and again, by 100 i was about 1-2 cars ahead of him... the second 335i was caravaning with a E46 M3 cab and I ran that too and that was a joke, expectedly. anyways... i thought 335's were supposed to a little faster than the M Coupes so I was wondering if anyone in the Irvine area with a stock one wanted to, with in legal limits for the most part, friendly run... thanks. Please understand I am not trying to incite a riot with this post though i'm sure it will turn into that.

also just for reference. i used to own an E46 ZHP and an S2000. Comparing the S2000 to the M Coupe... the M Coupes handling and steering are basically identical to the S2000 with the edge on handling going to the S2000 and the edge on steering going to the M Coupe... however the M Coupes shifter is total garbage... like unbelievable crap, but so is basically everything compared to the S2K shifter.

The 335i stock is def not supposed to be faster than a Z4M. Think about it

Z4M 330 HP and about 300lbs lighter
335i 300 HP

Yup, stock for stock the M Coupe should take it, but with PROcede V2 you don't have a chance. Personally I'd still rather have the M Coupe.

+1

And a M Coupe has a proper LSD too. Can't beat that...well...unless the 335i owner has upgraded his car with a Quaife differential. But not many owners have...

ok fair enough then... haha, obviously modified, the 335 would provide a completely different outcome.

stock vs. stock you should take 335's. chipped 335's should be able to take you. I raced 2 M5's today, and raced my friend's M6 a few times and they all couldnt pull on me... neither could i pull on them

the M Coupe a chick car? maybe the roadster? frankly of the maybe 5 M Coupes i've ever seen on the road none of them are driven my women. and there are 9 335's in my apartment complex alone, all driven by college girls... and most 335's i see are driven by moms and college girls... furthermore, at least the m coupe uses an engine with some pedigree and has arguably, the best cylinder head ever created in the entire world, whereas the 335 motor is simply an E46 M54 with two turbos and an intercooler strapped on. no offense, the 335 is a great car and i almost bought one many times, but your statements are entirely unfounded. ultimately the M Coupe was more what i was looking for.

Erm, I think the 3 series is a big time chick car whereas the Z4 is not. You've got it backwards.

you didn't hurt my feelings, its certainly not emotional thing you just seemed to be immature about the whole thing. and it just seemed like the stereotypical underaged BMW owner who thinks he has the greatest thing in the world, whether that describes you or not. that's how you came off.

Stock vs. stock:

335i has roughly the same hp as a Z4M but more torque (regardless of what is officially quoted by BMW). 335i is a couple of hundred lbs heavier. Straight run off a light, a 335i will give a Z4M good competition and will win IF and only IF the Z4M driver isn't on top of his game. Basically it's a driver's race at lower speeds. Up top the Z4M will pull which is what you experienced....

Here's what you'll find. All the 335 guys will tell you that you can only win stock for stock, and the Z4M guys will tell you you will win hands down, and only if the car is proceded will it be a driver's race. The truth is probably somewhere in between...but who cares. The absolute truth is your car is sexier than a 335 will ever be.
