How does European Delivery work?

I have never "ordered" a car from a manufacturer. I have always just found what I want on the lot (with the occasional compromise), and worked the deal as best I could.

What are the major pros and cons associated with the Euro Delivery? It seems like it would be more expensive, but is it true you can actually get better deals? Why is that?

The ED is more of an experience than the saving. I did it on Sept 11 this year, awesome. The best vacation I ever have.
