Took the 328 to the strip

15.18@90.1MPH was my best time and a 60ft of 2.299

I could have probably lowered the 60ft by launching at a higher RPM (was launching at about 2500) but I wanted to preserve the driveline and not break anything.

I don't know how a automatic 330i was kicking off 97mph trapspeeds and I can't even crack 91mph. Gear ratios? Final drive? Car is verified healthy according to the dyno.

your 60 foot time isn't doing you any favors. nearly 2.3 on the 60 ft will really add to your quarter mile time. if you cut that to 2.0, you'd drop nearly half a second on the back end. But then again, 90.1mph says otherwise.

did you bog on the launch at all? spin? if you are on regular street tires, you shouldn't have too much driveline stress, so launching higher would probably help.

C/D test notes indicate they Dropped the clutch at over 5000RPM, I was launching around 2500 - even if I could get the 60ft down, the MPH just says it's not fast enough for mid 14s. And for the launch, it didn't bog, and spun just a little.

Btw one of the races at the strip I ran against a 128i manual with exhaust which run 14.5X@96mph so I would expect a 328i which is what ~300 pounds heavier and being stock to do high 14's, so you're time isn't totally off, but not that great either....

maybe need a small tune-up, how are the plugs/coils/airfilter/etc...?

Edit: didn't read your last comment, if on the dyno it checks than it's not the car, are you shifting just before hitting 7000rpm and fast enough?

Redline every shift, and I even missed a gear on a run or two and got the same trap speed. Retarded.

Ok, this is REALLY odd.

Run 1, I believe I missed second gear for a moment
60' ---- 2.290
300 ---- 7.084
1/8 ---- 10.781
MPH ---- 66.41
1000 ---- 13.831
1/4 ---- 16.303
MPH ---- 90.61

Run 2, bad launch
60' ---- 2.36
300 ---- 6.598
1/8 ---- 10.045
MPH ---- 71.22
1000 ---- 12.941
1/4 ---- 15.375
MPH ---- 90.68

Run 4, I was idling for a solid 10 minutes before hand
60' ---- 2.299
300 ---- 6.464
1/8 ---- 9.881
MPH ---- 71.6
1000 ---- 12.76
1/4 ---- 15.189
MPH ---- 90.12

could also be the weather/track, what's the elevation/humidity/temp when you run? what about the track is it known to be slow fast, maybe on incline, you never know, some tracks are just faster than others....

how were the other cars performing around?

btw as already mentioned the 60ft could really be improved as you're manual, you had the same 60ft as my automatic, that's where the manual should shine and should cut .1-.2 compared to an auto on the 60ft, which will be around .2-.3 in the 1/4 mile time diff right there + it will help the mph as well...

I'll try again, but the track doesn't open again until after the new year. I just don't see how I'm not trapping high enough, as I understand a 60ft time doesn't effect trap speed.

Where are you shifting? Don't wait until 7000 rpm. The N52 wheezes a bit up there. Shift at 6800rpm and launch at 3500 rpm. My performance box measured my 1/4 mi at 14.7. Don't remember the trap speed though. The performance box also start timing 1 foot after initial movement (no reaction time).

Just installed the OE tune on my car, I'll back to the track next week. I think the problem is I was letting off too early. Ops.

From the seat of the pants, the gains are very good, even with out car's very linar powerband - most of the extra push is felt towards 4K+

Throttle response is also slightly improved (though I never really had an issue with it before) and part throttle response is improved substatially. I'm pleased with it, but I'd like to see how much power I gained/ time I can shave off before I give it my seal of approval.

What is the OE tune? As in software from BMW?

OE is a tuning company - the verdict is still out on the tune though.
