2 questions regarding my E92 335i
Just got the car a month ago and noticed something since last night:
Putting the 6MT into reverse is a little harder now for some reason it is almost a small struggle to put it into Reverse more so than the last 3 weeks I have had it. Secondly, When is the first oil change on this car usually done? I figured the I-drive would tell me or BMW Assist would email my BMW dealership and they would call, but I was curious about that.... Thanks |

You should do your first oil change right after you're done with the break in(1500 miles). Dont wait 20,000 to do your first one. lol

yeah BMW seems to forget that its a pretty good idea to get your oil changed after break in. If you plan on keeping it for a long time I would change the oil after break in. As for the trans, I have no clue.

The clutch and things are still breaking in. The shifter engagement will loosen up over time. Its always pretty notchy at first.
I changed my oil at around 2500 miles. Whether or not it did something Im just pretty religious about doing that with every new car. Old habits die hard.

From my experience, the shifting did change over the first 2k. I can't quite put my finger on it, it was as if it has no feel at all initially, BUT was very easy to drive smoothly. It seemed to stiffen up?? as the vehicle got driven more, but more difficult to shift smoothly.
The oil change has been debated, but I think the bottom line is if you own it, change around 1200-1500. It may help, it may not, but what's $70-$130 for peace-of-mind? If you lease it, change it in one year. My SA said the above, he told me since you own the car, and plan on keeping, change the oil early. He would do the same on his own car, though it may or may not be needed. Just do it. Lease? Let's be serious, practical, and stop trying to change the world. Don't bother, save your $70-$130 for something else. That's like remodeling your apartment--you don't own it, you don't have to do anything that goes beyond normal wear/tear. I've never washed and waxed a rental car, let alone pay for an oil change. |

The CDV helps out a lot in clutch feel and engagement. Dont remember if it helped at all in terms of lever feel(technically it shouldnt).
