First BMW

Just picked up a 2007 335i with 64k miles. Had a PPI performed and car was operating great. Car is Aspen white with black leather interior, very basic package, no nav or anything but I prefer a basic fast car.

In the future I will probably get a tune and down pipes, I'm used to power and regularly track my Lotus and have had 2 400+ WHP STi's in the past. Just found this forum to get more info and learn about the cars and maybe browse the classifieds once I'm ready to spend more more on the car.

I see a lot about little issues that I am already expecting, but what about the tunes, is that to much power or over boosting the turbos to much.. I read about 9PSI is the most they should push yet I can't find what a tune with a Cobb of JB4 does to boost.

I have jb4 g5 tune ,downpipes, methanol kit & e85 mix have been running 15-18psi since 2011 around 25k miles with no issues other than routine maintenance & new water pump, which goes on all these car modded or not. If you decide jb4 start with dci some e85 put on map5 autotune & you will be very impressed trust me close to 400hp for 500-600$ best money I ever spent.

These cars were de-tuned out of the factory in order to meet gas mileage requirements and so as to bot compete too closely with the M3, so tuning is really just giving the engine back what was taken away at birth. You should do it immediately. The only problem you will have is keeping the rears hooked up when you go hard on the throttle, and I always say that this is a pretty good "problem" to have in the whole scheme of things.

I was looking at used access ports because I have owned four turbo suabrus with access ports so I am familiar with the unit. Any reason to go with the JB instead of the access port?
