methanol question...
what's the best mix with water? can i mix meth with normal water, not distilled
from what i know meth is a high octane fuel and the water is for cooling, what if i run 80% water and 20% meth at 18psi pump gas? any benefits if i run 100% water in the tank? is it better to run cold water in the tank with the meth mix or only water? |

Best mix is 50/50 because it doesn't burn if it leaked or spilled provides good cooling and good octane boost. You can always add more meth for more octane to prevent knock but you run the risk of fire, and always remember that meth is a band aid for fueling requirements so if your new to meth injection stay with 50/50.
You always want to use distilled water NEVER use drinking or any type of water that has minerals as they will leave residues and cause engine damage. The mix of methanol you run depends on your car, meth system, and the tune you run. You can run straight distilled water for cooling of charge temperature. |

50/50 is a good starting point, as noted above it’s a nice median of relative safety and IAT suppression. I view the octane as an incidental benefit and tuned as if it wasn’t there to begin with. Plenty of people have successfully tuned for meth as a fuel source, but you need to be cautious and understand that if you are running pump gas underneath it, you better be careful if the meth flow is interrupted. The flash point for methanol is startlingly low, another thing to keep in mind.

you can start with 50/50 check for leeks. run the car for about a week or so to check if everything is ok and then you can add more meth. I'm currently running 90% meth and 10% distilled water.

performance wise I have found 80% to 100% the best. I will usually tune for 70-75% and then bump it up for some headroom. Water is great for cooling meth won't cool as much but it has the benefit to raise octane, so your usually better off with higher meth content.

This platform typically makes the most power on mixtures above 80% methanol.
However, from a safety standpoint we always recommend 50/50. Distilled water is always recommended as there are no impurities in it. An important detail that seems to be going away is what nozzle to use depending on mixture and power goals. Typically on this platform if one were to spray say 100% water you want to use a very small nozzle, say M2. However, on 50/50 mix you can get away with M7 and M10. For 80-100% meth mixtures M10 is still the most popular or two M5 nozzles would be ideal. These recommendations are for typical Full bolt on vehicles (FBO). |

I always mix my meth with -35 or -40 w/w fluid because you get around 40% methanol and demineralized water for $3 for 4 litres. I then check the msds sheets to find out the meth content and usually add about 1/3 of a methyl hydrate 4l jug to each 4l w/w jug to get the mix over 50/50 by weight.
