Rattle noise from the engine

Not sure if this is actually symptoms of turbo waste gate rattle but I recently got a rattle sound coming from the engine. It happens regardless of the car being cold or warm and only happens when the RPM is on its way down when I rev 2.5K RPM and up. Happens when both in gear and in neutral.

It almost sound like when you are riding a bicycle and a piece of wood is striking the wire spoke.

Please tell me the issue could be something else than the waste gate! My car has about 75K KM on it. No engine lights or anything. Car drives fine.

It does sound like turbo wastegate rattle. I have had it on my car too, pretty bad. When I got my protune from PTF I had them add some changes to dial the noise down almost entirely. It worked out really well.

I had a rattle problem similar to this, after BMW spent 6 weeks and replaced almost $10k worth of parts they discovered it was a rattle from a solenoid in the valve cover, replaced the cover at it went away. Only difference is mine was only around once car was at operating temperature.

Well if it's a waste gate problem, will they actually replace the waste gate or do they just slap on new turbos?

Wastegates. Mine rattle upon cold start and on deceleration at 3200 RPM and up. Very annoying.
