Help! Excessive smoke (oil), rough idle, car wont stay running

2008 335i ~75K miles. Had a few rough starts/idles lately, but chalked it up to it being cold. After the gym this morning, car started rough, rpms up and down, eventually died (2 degrees this morning). Started again, rpms flared then started to putter so i held the gas around 1200rpms to get it past the cold start, but i noticed some excessive smoke coming from behind, so i shut it down got out and smelled the exhaust seeping out and it smelled like oil. Wasnt sweet like coolant thankfully. I'm going to get it home tonight, but where do i start? I figured i'd pull the plugs, but if its the rings or turbos i'm going to have to take it in. Help! Thanks!

I would check your PCV could have stuck open. Might cause some of those symptoms.

I don't think golf tee counts, so no mods.

pulled the covers off everything in case i need to pull the valve cover. Went to pull the plugs before i realized i didnt have the "special socket" I'll try and find one tomorrow. I pulled that vent host on the back that connects the valve cover breather system to the intake and i could have poured oil out of it. I figured it'd be oily but not dripping. Thoughts? Bmw parts guy said if its the crankcase breather assembly then its a new valve cover (~$430).
