M235i or 535i?
Unsure, as a 135i owner - my heart has been set on an M235i, but lately I've been going back and forth between the M235i and a 535i sedan.
Any opinions?!

I would look at.. how tall/big/small you are... shouldn't be that big of an issue since you have a 1 series and also do you have other people you need to drive around? wife kids friends etc.

Two very different cars - not sure why they would be cross-shopped? For eg. the 5er is clearly a 4 seater, the M235i is really a 2 seater for all practical purposes. The 5 is a big car IMO, whereas the 2 is more mid to small size. With the N55 engine in both, the 2 will outperform the 5, but the 5 is more luxury oriented. I would buy the M235i, but I would not buy the 5er, with any engine.
It really comes down to what you want/need in a car??

Wife and kids? 535i. Maybe just Gf? M235i. No Gf either? Porsche.

Like others have said what are you using it for? If you came from a 135i you'll most likely end up getting bored with the 535i. Get the m235i, save some money, and buy the LSD add on and a tune to get a very fun car to drive

Cars are totally opposite in size, personality and driving characteristics. If you need 4 doors and space then clearly the 5 is a good way to go. If you don't need 4 doors and want something with a sporty personality then the M235i would be the way to go. As I am typing this I realize I am not saying anything that you don't already know. Good luck

I just saw the teaser of the 2 series on the street and it's taken more of the 1 series genes. Although they are both good looking cars i would go with the 5er because it is more luxury and comfortable. The con of having a 5er is that it's slower and also not as gas efficient compared to any other car.

Thanks for all the feedback!
I realize it's a bit odd, I am aware they are completely different cars (price/size/etc). just generally though, I don't necessarily need a 535i but I love the way they look and drive. I've had a coupe for awhile, and have been considering maybe it would be nice to have some extra room (if I did need to pick up people etc) however, I love the go of my 135i. Definitely leaning towards the 235i. I live in the city, so despite the 535i giving me extra room it's probably not as efficient as a smaller car in a city environment. Thank you everyone again for all the feedback!

I understand your dilemma. I love the looks of the 535 also and wouldn't mind getting one as a cruiser. I think you'd have more fun with a 235 when it comes down to driveability considering it weighs much less.
I'd say choose the 235 or keep your 135 in the end. |

Had not considered keeping my 135i if I got the 535i honestly - I am definitely leaning towards that 235i though, it just looks and sounds so good!!
