My Personal Review of the Cobb v3
Big thank you to Mike at n54tuning, excellent service but I say this also including jeff at top gear and Terry at BMS as they all sent emails back and answered questions promptly. I ordered through mike as he had the Canadian shipping from T dot so brokerage fees wouldn't shock me. Anyhow I have the DCi BMS but they go in tomorrow so I decided to get the car full washed and then load up the stage 1 sport stock throttle map in my stock 09 335i coupe. Anyhow one of the reasons I went with the cobb was ease of install and that couldn't be more true. simple simple. 20min later I was ready to see how different the car is.. all I can say is WOW.... compared to stock it flys.. full boost feels like it takes a bit longer to fully build but man it screams.. unreal for under 1K a car can be so different. Anyhow I know a JB4 etc are also great from what I read but I thought I chime in with how a stock car to a stage 1 sport map feels as most add more bolt ons together so to know that just a tune can be so great I can only imagine when I get the FMIC and DP put in..... oh momma. Anyhow Im a cobb fan and I am pleasantly surprised at the difference a tune on a stock car is. Cheers for reading and I hope it helps those out who want to buy just a tune and wonder if its worth it. Answer 110% it is.....

Haha just wait till fmic and dps its a whole different car and I would recommend you to protuning freaks for a protune, lot of guys here have them and they are superb.they protune your car to its specific needs and octane and it really makes a huge difference interms of power and smoothness.

I also preferred the Cobb AP3 for the simplicity of the install and uninstall. I just needed a "pay & play" tuner and that's what you get w/the Cobb.
My 2008 E90 already had the BMW PPK Stage 1 Flash in it, which supposedly bumps the power by 20 BHP to 320 BHP, and the Cobb V3 with a Mishimoto FMIC using the Stage 1+ FMIC map, supposedly bumps the power by 30% over stock up to 390 BHP or 70HP over the PPK Stage 1 Flash, which is more than enough power for my needs. I live in California (the land of the smog Nazis), so I can't even consider DPs but I really don't think you need them unless you plan to race your car. However, if you're looking for MAX power, the DPs, DCI and an aftermarket exhaust would make it a complete FBO modification that should yield around 420 BHP w/93 octane based on the graphs/posts that I've seen.

Get an FMIC next and go for Stage 1+. Another huge step forward.

Looking for your input on the actual V3 unit. How is the on the go map switching, etc. The cobb tune is the same regardless of V2 or V3, but there hasn't been a ton of conversation around their new hardware.

There are quite a few pretty decent videos on Youtube now showing the different features of the new V3. I was watching a few the other day. Might not be exactly N54 but some Speed3 V3 videos and such

I have never had a v2 just seen YouTube vids but the V3 is a beaut. Very easy to read and use. Install was a piece of cake... 20-25min because it downloads your stock map to revert back to. Using gauges etc is simple. Great product in that regard. As I learn more of what all the different parameters are and what the t should be at it even becomes a more useful tool. Map switching I can't comment on as I have not done so yet but if it is as simple as plugging the v3 in and selecting a different map and hitting ok , then it's absolutely easy. I hear changing maps is around 5-10min. I heard quicker but 5 goes by pretty quick. Trust me the v3 is amazing and Mike at n54tuning is a great place to get it from..... The data logging feature for someone like me is great as guys on here take the time to help read them for you and suggest things like changing maps or fuels etc. I find this the most beneficial as I don't know much yet and I just was told perhaps my sport map is a little aggressive using 91 shell v power in Victoria so I'm gonna do some more runs and make sure I'm not hurting my car. The thing runs like a bat out of hell and seems fine but when one analysis the data log it really tells the truth . That alone is worth the extra price for me over a jb4 which I hear is fantastic and I believe you can also data log but it's not a easy as the v3 . When you have the v3 plugged in you just hit ok and it starts to log until you hit ok again. Brilliant. Hope that helps a bit on the v3.. It seems to work fast and it's very clear to read and easy to use. Menu and buttons are user friendly. Can't go wrong and no I don't work for cobb lol....

I am patiently waiting to use mine, I have a walnut blasting appointment on 3/13 under my CPO. After that, its Stage 1 aggressive time!
