Car Vibrating
Hey guys,
I need some help, I just bought a 2009 bmw 335i xdrive two weeks ago. The car has been driving well up until today. This afternoon I started my car and it proceeded to vibrate pretty crazy. The fumes coming out of my exhaust smelt alot like gas, and there was tons of deep white smoke. I also thought the exahust was putting out smoke spiratically. My Service Engine Soon light also came on. I have no warranty on the car, but was planning on getting it soon from BMW. the car only has 38k miles on it. I'm taking it to the dealership tomorrow, can anybody tell me what I should expect? I've read some forums in which other memebers had similar problems but didn't find one that was identical to mine. Please Help!! |

Do you have a code reader? would help a lot since you have the CEL on, I had kind of the same issue in the past but not excessive smoke just vibration on start up and gas smell I ended up changing all 6 spark plugs and 2 burnt ignition coils.

I'll have to get a code reader I guess, I'm new to the e90 so i'm not readily equipped with one. Any suggestions on where to get one for a good deal?

Any basic code reader will work like what you get at any autoparts store. It won't give you stuff like shadow codes, but it will tell you what's going on right now. Get the cheapest one, it's like $60.
Walnut blasting won't help your situation, that's more for smoother idle and better throttle response. It won't cause sudden symptoms like yours. As others have said, something is failing like a coil or injector. Or maybe O2 sensors, the only time my car exhibited similar symptoms was when the shop swapped the O2 sensors into the wrong bank while installing downpipes. So if one fails, maybe it could cause similar symptoms. Pull the codes and that will get you started. |
