Grinding sound from Step Tranny 335 E90

Frequently when accelerating or decelerating, from a stop up to about 1800 rpm and back down to stop, the transmission makes a slight grinding sound. Its loud enough that my 79 year old mom hears it and my wife as well.

Both assumed it was a wheel or tire rubbing, but once above 1800 it stops, and when slowing down, once the transmission releases, the sound stops again.

Any ideas? Anyone else had this? I dont remember it when the car was new but I might have missed it. Its seem a bit loud to be normal.

All of us guys just guessing about your car's problem is kind of pointless; just bring your car in for service and let them diagnose and fix the problem. G/L.

One can only assume that it's curiosity that drives these types of threads and not necessity.

I understand your curiosity, but do you really think all 335i's grind below 1,800rpm? If my car were stock and it made some crazy grinding sound, I wouldn't be on here posting a thread about it; I'd be driving to my dealer's service dept. to drop it off and get a loaner car. Now, if you have some mods, then I can understand why you'd want to post a thread, asking ppl if they might know what it could be.

I only have suspension mods at this point, so I should be ok at the dealer. I just dont have much free time to do it. My baby is set to arrive anytime between now and Saturday.
