injectors...the good, the bad and the ugly
So, as part of my single turbo conversion, I've been going through and pretty much replacing nearly every wear item in the engine bay outside of the engine internals. Gaskets, belts, pulleys, plugs, motor mounts, bolts, seals, all sorts of wallet draining nonsense. Well, I figured I should probably take care of having the injectors cleaned and inspected as well since they were the original injectors on my 06/06 build date 335i!!! Needless to say, they baselined low, one ticked like it is on its way out, another had a bad spray pattern and started to create more of a flooding than a misting at higher rpms, and lastly...they just couldn't get up to an acceptable flow level even after multiple rounds of ultrasonic cleaning, and that's after still gaining 5-7% flow per injector!!! So, that's the bad.
With all that said, it looks like I am in the market for all new injectors and to be honest, after spending so much damn money already(10-12k easy) on all of the stuff for my build, I am beyond tired of spending money to make this car a turn key awesome sauce mobile. But, it needs to be done. So... Does anyone have a good source for the newest rev injectors at a good price? Anyone who says, "the dealership" gets a virtual slap upside the head. And that concludes the ugly. The good, however, is that I had all of the flow testing and cleaning done by Heath at ***********. If anyone is on the fence about using his services, I highly recommend doing so. He gave a full report on each injector and held up to his claims of refunding half the money on injectors that do not pass. He was extremely quick with his service and was beyond pleasant to deal with. I will definitely be sending the injectors from my A4 to him when I get to freshening that car up later this year. |

This is not really a review thread. The website is **************** I'm looking for any info on where to get the newest injectors for the best price. Example, ecstuning has them for $999, but I still want cheaper.

tomkinsonbmwparts.com has them for $144.38 and coupling for $4.97. Not sure if that helps too much.

I'm so with you on tired of spending money! My car is FBO with meth. Figured I'd get pro-active and change out the O2 sensors as mine are factory 02/07 build. Did that, drove 3 miles and wham! Misfires, loss of power, and complete throttle loss! Check for codes and get the dreaded ecu diode failure code!
Sad part, take to dealer as ecu is covered under the emissions law, there are protocols to follow. As I had misfires as well as ecu codes, the test plan shows: 1-check fuel pump pressures 2-change injectors (mine are original o2/07) 3-change coil packs 4-spark plugs 5-approve dme Doesn't make sense. I'm out of warranty otherwise so in canada, 6x injectors installed = $3000 6x coil packs= $1000 6x Plugs= $300 Called tisher and new injectors, coil packs and plugs, $1350 shipped! |

I just replaced all six of mine Friday afternoon. I had a few leaking, causing cylinder misfires on 1, 2, and 3. So bad that it was undriveable and had to order from my closest dealership. I would definitely recommend Tomkinson BMW for parts if you have time to wait for shipping. I've ordered multiple parts from them with rock bottom pricing. Can't beat OEM parts.

I'm not entirely sure how he does it, but he requires the injectors to flow at a minimum of 70ml/min for him to sell them if he buys them used for resale. Mine, were in the low to mid 60's. Given I'm going to be pushing them pretty hard after clutch, flywheel and inline lpfp, I want the headroom. The few that flowed even that much will be good for short term backups, but that's about it.

welcome to the dark side lol.! jk I think all the injectors flow different based on there calibration. I'm not sure a standard pressure and voltage dictates flow alone

If it was me. I would wait to see at what power my fuel trims maxed out at. I would swap whatever cylinder had bad pattern and see if my pressure from the pump dives before i run out of injector flow room.
