Insurance Costs?

Hey guys, got my obvious answer on my first post regarding the model and year I should be looking to buy later this summer. I'm 18, and work two jobs in New York. I'll have a nice amount of money to buy an 07-08 328i this Summer. I'm wondering, what do you guys think insurance costs might be if I'm under my parents' insurance? (Theft/Collision/etc...) Let me know if more info is needed, thanks.

There's so many variables that comes into play when you're trying to acquire auto insurance; such as recent incidents or moving violations.

But to roughly guesstimate you're looking at around $600 - $800 for a 6 month premium under your parent's insurance. If you're looking for your own insurance, you're probably looking at $1200 - $1500 for a 6 month premium.

I'm 25, and full coverage on my 06 330i sedan is about $200 a month with a clean driving record. I'm guessing that you're gonna be a tad higher since you're a youngin' :-)

Haha, I've been trying to find it online, but as stated, I couldn't find a good estimate because of all the variables. Thanks Guys !

Way way too many variables for anyone to give you even a ballpark guess. Just have your parents call their agent. One phone call, no guessing. Whenever I shop for cars I always call my agent with the models I'm considering. It takes them like a minute. Good luck.

+1, forget asking on the forum, call the insurance agent. No one else has an identical driving record, insurance carrier, neighborhood, multi-car discount, multi-policy discount, etc. I will say that the neighborhood in which the car is parked could have a profound impact on your comprehensive (and possibly collision) premiums.

In many cases, the agent cannot give you a precise number until they submit the amended application to the insurance carrier, but they will give you a pretty good estimate. When I got my 335i in January, I called my agent and this is exactly what happened. Got the estimate very quickly.

That's a lot!! I pay $180 full coverage for a 2011 335is and I'm not even 25 yet. I don't have a clean record.

Well, I'd imagine a lot has to do with where the car is parked, and while its not the most dangerous city in America, its no Pleasantville. Also, I said "around", the exact dollar amount is $187.93. There's also an additional $6/mo tacked in there for free towing since I nixed the run-flats the first day I bought her.

Wow that is high. I just got quoted $83 a month for full coverage on a 335i. I'm 24, so I still pay more for being under 25 or 26 or whatever.

Guess this just goes to show the only way to find out what you're going to pay is to talk to your agent. Mine actually had no problem running the number on a few different cars with varying coverage, as I am looking at a few different models (335 was the highest out of all the cars he ran).

Call. When I was shopping for insurance, none of the online quotes were correct. Geico was way lower than what an agent quoted me and Liberty Mutual was higher online.

DAMN!!! That's crazy. I'm 30 now and I pay $105/mo on a 335i e93. Full coverage, $500 deduct, and roadside assistance (geico). Live in the suburbs and Clean Driving record but I also had 3 cars that were flooded. Not sure if that even counts since it's something out of my control. I think before 25 I was paying about 120/mo for my wrx. My TT and G35 was right around $100 ish a month. I would shop around and get some new quotes. I actually think I'm paying more than I should and have shopped around but Geico seems to be the cheapest for me.

29 and my 6 month policy premium with Geico is 1100. this is with comprehensive/collision, discounts for anti-lock breaks and anti-theft devices, and a horrible driving record.

as others have stated, it all depends on your state, age, car, record, etc...

So I have no clue why but my insurance with my parents is $800 a year for my 328. Not really sure why you guys are paying so much. Maybe depends on the state? It's full coverage with $100 deductibles for comprehensive and collision
