How to fix keyed up car?

my girlfriends RSX got keyed. it's not deep. i was able to rub some things off but you can still see the line. just looks like a long piece of fine thread.

any cheap ways of fixing this?

Do you have access to a random orb? If not you can always run it by a body shop for an estimate. Do you have pics? Tough to tell unless I (or anyone else) can get a look at the damage.

I've never understood the whole concept of "keying cars"

what's a random orb?

yeah my friend owns a body shop. i was going to take it to him but i thought i'd check on here first. no pictures at the moment.

yeah it's stupid. my girlfriend lives next to a high school and elementary school so kids walk by her car everyday. then just happened to key it this time around.

A random orbital polishing machine. Random because it has varying speeds, which is very important in the hands of a non professional like myself. It allows you to remove scratches, etchings, and swrill marks by using it with diffierent levels of polish.....from a "fine" finishing polish to an abrassive cutting polish. You can also use it to apply wax and sealant.

That's why I asked about the pics. We have several pros on this forum that might be able to assist you more if they could see what you're dealing with.

Stooken, check out the wash wax forum. Scratch-X and a mf towel would be something you can easily DIY. Try multiple passes, press fairly hard. Make sure your car is clean first obviously.

Pics would help.

Nu-Finish scratch remover ( found at all stores) does a fairly good job taking a scratch down to a minimal thread, that really can't be seen without knowing first that it is there.

Idiots that use keys to deface property should be fully prosecuted when found. Don't let the "juvenile" status deter anyone from seeking full criminal sanctions.
